So Whats Next for Mack...
WOOO HOOO!!
I am EXCITED that we are going to a BCS bowl game, and as many of you said before, this team surprised ALOT of people. It really sucks to see our biggest rival taking the spot that was supposed to be ours, but I am really proud of how this team performed this season.
However, I wanted to focus on what Mack should do this offseason and the next season. Over the years, Mack has displayed great sportsmanship (by not running up scores like Big Choke Bob) and has always portrayed himself as a nice southern gentleman who runs a GREAT program.
But, this season, some of the actions by Big 12 coaches showed that they are not too fond of Mack Brown. I remember Ron Prince calling Texas "the Yankees" or "the Redsox" of College football, and also, Mack brown got snubbed out of COTY while Stoops and Leach shared.
So my point is, should Mack keep up this nice image? I believe (or would like to) Mack has changed a bit since last season after A&M loss. Bringing Muschamp and Major was one of the best decisions he has ever made since recruiting VY.
I would like to see Mack to be pissed off about how things have gone toward end of the season and coach his team with some fire and embarass other schools next year...especially against OU and Tech....God I hate Tech

Why should he lower his standards?
He could keep his starters in all four quarters despite being up 30+ and still have his qb’s throwing bombs down field like we’re down 14 with a minute and a half but why give up his great character? Did you see Stoops’ shit-eating grin when they put up 62? How could anyone be proud of that? I love Mack Brown because he still stands for sportsmanship even though winning pretty is the popular thing these days.

Tough one...............
This is hard for me. I think Mack is the best coach in the country all things considered……..character…….etc….. And I couldn’t be prouder of the way he has conducted himself and our team.
On the other hand: If he ran up the scores in all of our games we may have broken records and been the Big 12 Champs playing for a National Championship. Hard to say but it’s surely food for thought.

Not run up the score but...
he should at least have voted UT #1 the last 2 weeks. It could have made a difference. I am not suggesting he drop OU to #10 or 15, but he could have justified a #1 for his own team. What message did his vote send to his team?

Mack did the right thing!!!
Bama deserved the #1 ranking at the time. Big Choke Bob and Navajo face will both get whats coming to them against Florida!!! I’m proud of this 11-1 team!! At the beggining of the season they where predicted to finish 3rd or 4th in the South Division!!! Mack has this thing going in the right direction!!! Now lets go Hook’em in the desert!!!

Karma
I agree that Stoops and Bradford will get what’s coming to them in Miami and Dallas next year, but there is no need to use racist remarks (yes I know Bradford is Native American).

Does the end justify the means?
I think he should (and will) stay the course when it comes to this. His demeanor and character make up who he is. If he changes, it will be for the worse. And I wouldn’t want to see that.
Mack is a true class act (vs. Stoops, who is a true ass clown).

Mack Doesn't Have to Run It Up
Because he has a real D coordinator and a real D. I’ll take 35-7 (should have been goose egg) and 49-9 over their trash any time… Stoops built his offense like a war machine; always moving, always attacking. He can’t stop and just control a game and win, because his whole deal revolves around momentum and the hurry-up. That kind of system invites huge point totals and frentic paced games.
I don’t know what smoke and mirrors got the B12 coaches to vote in Stoops for COY, but that kind of junk is going to get paid back with penalties and interest next year when Bob’s O-Line, QB, RB, and anyone else that matters is off the team….No matter what happens in the title game (Go Gators), next year is going to be an angry, vindictive shitstorm for OU. Hopefully RRS ’09 will lead to some world record pouty-face exasperated hand raising and whiny visor throwing.

We do not, and never should run it up
If we get a good lead and our second stringers can score while running the ball, that’s great, but I stand by the class, honor, and respect Mack shows in not intentionally going for a Stoops-esque routing by leaving his starters in all game and passing for TD’s even when the affair is far out of reach with no time left. If Stoops needs to do that to get ahead in the voting and try to make people forget about all his BCS chokes and recent losses to Texas that’s fine, but we don’t have to stoop to his level. Plus, sooner or later, he will get a starter hurt by leaving them in. As per the coaches’ voting this weekend, I understand Leach’s vote since it helps his strength of schedule to have the only person that beat them be number one. As per Art Briles, well, I don’t understand his vote…maybe he just felt emotional about it because they did get some explosives and he felt bitter his team didn’t capitalize more.
