Chaka?

Can we please elevate Chaka Kahn to Enemy of the Nation status? Does anyone else in the country get away with more under the guise of being tough and gritty?

That said, another great win.

I guess it was the beatings made me wise. But I'm not about to give thanks, or apologize.

Hell yes

Screw the Kahn.

hmm

I dont remember Texas beating Duke when Vince was in attendance pre-Heisman presentation.  I am going to chalk it up to Texas basketball winning whenever Super Bowl Champion safety AARON ROSS is in attendance.

Horizontalism is its own reward.

OMG!

Now I have total anxiety about my two tickets to the Aggie game.

Why do my superstitions have to be real?

Growing up, I only fed Jared Norton paper. That's why he eats plays.

Me ten minutes ago:  "Haha, yeah, what a coincidence.  I'm totally not missing the Aggie game for anything."

Me now:  "Jesus, we're going to fucking lose that game if I go.  I have to go.  I can't go.  I need a beer!"

to finally close the deal against Kansas, after several near misses.  He hasn't been my favorite player, but Mason was HUGE tonight.

Houston Regional

With a strong finish we could end up a #2 seed in the Houston Regional!  Let's hope we play this strong the rest of the way though!  Great win tonight against arguably the best team in the nation!

Oh hell yeah!!

The drum was awesome tonight!!  I love this team!!!

VY in the house w/ Studdard.

Our D has arrived and Damion was a beast on the boards.

Bill Self was pathetic looking from the nose bleed.

Gary Johnson

did anyone figure out how exactly he messed up his nose? In practice? He looked like he was in major pain.

couldn't tell

but it looked like he got popped about 2/3 way through 1st half.

go horns

just got back from the drum, what an awesome game.  Crowd was great... I can't believe Texas played such a physical game and came out on top.  huge win for the selection committee, too.

I bought these tickets as soon as the individual games went on sale, knowing it would be one of the top games, and I wasn't disappointed!

Bracketology

Joe Lunardi has us as the Houston 2 seed. And this was before the game tonight.

And he has the Big 12 with six bids; OU got a 9, and wasn't even one of the "last four in."

Lunardi isn't always the best at predicting the seeds teams will get, but he is scary good at predicting which teams get in.

Mandel has us as a 2 seed as well. No team in th

country can boast a resume over 3 teams that could be NO. 1 seeds.  Great win for the program tonight.

Go Damion!

Great rebounding in second half - the difference maker.

by bfaut86 on Feb 11, 2008 11:13 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Damion James

is a beast...Period!

I totally agree what a great crowd and great sight at inside of the building! When I saw VY was standing up & pointing out his finger to the court and yelled out "It's Texas Ball". His posture reminds me the way he called out the very last offensive play against USC. Standing tall at the line of scrimmage and pointing out his finger to the USC defense line and then, 10 seconds later, got you suckers!

What a great reunion for VY, Ross and others in 05' class. They cheer on with the sell out crowd in the same building. They have been playing in the same football field for too many times and this time, they returned home and attended the game. This is really really cool!

Even better, Ross brought his Superbowl Champion fun to the building and shared with all of the Texas fans. Thanks for the close up shot of Mack and Ross from ESPN. What a Texas Pride just shown on the National TV. That just awesome.

I look forward another Horns to win the next Superbowl. Let's hope VY will get one soon.

Hook'em!

resume

As of today's rankings, Texas has defeated #3, #4, #6, and #25.

3 of the 4 losses were to #10, #15, and #16.  only 1 "bad" loss, and Missouri's actually not that bad.

Talk about a tough schedule.  And with A&M and K-State coming up...

by SelimSivad on Feb 11, 2008 11:40 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

MO

Well, Missouri was not that bad when we played them. Now they are criminals, which would make them bad.

can't forget

...about saturday's game in Waco.  Baylor has played us close there the last 2 seasons, not to mention that they're a much better team this year.

KU is a great team

but it's hard to imagine that against the current top 25, they are 0-2.

It doesn't get any easier for us though. One game at a time.

Do y'all think winning a regular season Big 12 title is a realistic goal with this huge win?

by goingforthecorner on Feb 11, 2008 11:42 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I want a tourney title more..

I know thats crazy but Barnes has never won one and I think it would set UT up for a guaranteed 2 seed to win that.

by the1austin on Feb 11, 2008 11:44 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Another magical game at the Drum...

...Villanova two years ago, A&M last year, and KU tonight.  Those are the three most memorable crowds at a UT home sporting event in my time here, and this might have been my favorite...

I thought tonight's win was the most impressive because we just ripped that game out of their hands in the 2nd half.  I never thought we were going to lose the games against Villanova or A&M, but, during the first half tonight, I knew it was going to take a Superhuman effort to beat Kansas.  I cannot remember seeing such a complete basketball team as what KU rolled out tonight.  What a heavyweight slugfest...

Wiggo will throw together a spectacular recap tonight, but I just want to say that this game lived up to my wildest dreams as a UT basketball fan.  I really don't think I've ever heard the arena get as loud as it got after Damion slammed home that rebound.  I've also never seen so many exhausted students willing themselves to take the noise to another decibel in the waning minutes...

I love this team.  I love our coach.

Rick Barnes and History

What great halftime adjustments concerning rebounding and defense in the post. Texas was out-rebounded by KU 23-13 in 1st half but then turned the tide outrebouding KU 23-12 in the second half. Also finally double teaming the post in the second half was crucial.

Overall great game, both teams played their heart out. Championship type game.

Also 7th consecutive win agianst top 10 opponent at the Drum.

Loving our resume with big games still down the stretch.

Don't forget the record books rewritten agian tonight with the 9th straight 20 win season. Previously it was 4 straight.

Texas Fight!
Let's get some burnt orange in Waco!

re: rebounding

Damion (all by his lonesome) out-rebounded KU in the 2nd half 13-12.  Talk about effort.

That was amazing

I was so mad when James picked up the quick two, but AJ's and Atchely's great shooting kept us in it in the first half.  And then James and Mason were just amazing in the second half.  We couldn't get a defensive rebound to save our lives until James came back in.  I have no idea what anyone's stats are, but I am horse right now from the play of James and Mason.  They set the Drum on fire!!!
