Big 12 #1
So at 9-2 in Conference Play tied with Kansas, I assume that we are #1 in the Big 12 winning the tie breaker. Since we don't play Kansas again, if we win out we will win the Big 12 Regular Season and be the #1 seed in the Big 12 touney?
Also I think we will get a #1 seed even if we were to drop one as long as we win the big 12 which would mean another win over KU.
Just needed to ramble a little this morning.

tied at the end of the regular season
means co-champs, regardless of head-to-head (i believe). The head-to-head win does get us the #1 seed in the big12 tourney.
but that's getting ahead of ourselves. OU is never particularly easy, and at k-state is going to be an extremely tough game.
as for the ncaa's, i think the committee is probably going to look to give a #1 to either texas or kansas (though they claim they don't do this) so we've got a shot at it, but we probably have to win out (at least until the finals of the big12 tourney) to get it.

I don't follow this enough...
Help me out. Assuming that your theory is right and Texas gets a #1, what is the possibility of still being sent to the Houston Regional? Or is the Houston the #1 overall? How does that work?

FWIW
The committee ranks within the seeds as well. So, if another #1 seed with a higher position has its most natural geographical tie to Houston, then they'll probably get it. But it's all a balancing act.
So this year the regionals are in Charlotte, Houston, Detroit and Phoenix. If the #1s are (in order) Memphis, Duke or UNC, Tennessee, and Texas, then the committee is going to put Memphis somewhere first, but Memphis is somewhat equidistant from 3 of the regionals (742 miles to Detroit, 635 to Charlotte, and 568 to houston). Given that Charlotte and Houston already have natural tie-ins to other #1 seeds (Duke/UNC and UT), the committee might just ship them to Detroit. But that would also send Tennessee to Phoenix, which wouldn't necessarily be fair since they're a higher #1 than Texas.
The point is that it's a balancing act. There are no hard and fast rules.
And to clarify, this is just an example to answer a question. No chicken/hatched problems here, damnit.

FYI
Check out the last paragraph of this post by PB. It sums up this issue pretty well.

uh
something about chickens and counting them or something
I do recall this site being abuzz about a potential BCS bid, as if beating A&M was a foregone conclusion.
Not to be a negative nancy or anything, but there's still a good month until selection Sunday, so let's not go sucking each other's popsicles yet.
