After this weekend's Junior Day, Mack picked up verbals from 2 DEs and one LB...

Dominique Jones: DE, Kilgore TX, 6'3", 230 lbs
Kyle Kriegel: DE, Elysian Fields TX, 6'5", 235 lbs
Patrick Nkwopara: LB, Grand Prairie TX, 5'11", 195 lbs

Eryon Barnett: DB, Euless (Trinity HS), 6'2", 180 lbs

He has good height and speed, and surely will bulk up maybe 20 pounds or so in the next two years. Currently not in any rankings.

I've never heard of these guys, but I'm sure they're solid players considering our coaches' ability to evaluate talent. None are on the Rivals 100.

Nkwopara seems small for a LB, so I'm assuming he will bulk up. He is fast, though, running a 4.54.
Jones continues the Kilgore-to-Texas pipeline which has given us a few good ones in recent years.
Kriegel is #64 on the LSR 100.

Anyone with more info is encouraged to share...

Russel Shepard

On another recruiting news, Shepard didn't commit to LSU yesterday, but he was so impressed that he said LSU is his new clear cut first choice. He also says that he almost committed to them, but he did not because he the recruiting happens only once.

Another reason to hate Perriloux

I wouldn't be surprised if Perriloux doesn't return to the team if Miles gets an early commitment from Shep. Rather, I wouldn't be surprised if Miles tells Perriloux not to return to the team this summer.

Phonetic spelling anyone?

I like everything I've read about this LB. He sounded overjoyed to receive an offer from Mack, and he committed quickly. One problem, though. I'm not sure how to say his name. Here's my guess:

Patrick nih-quo-perrah. However it is pronounced, he seems like a really good addition to the team.
