We Need a D. Scott Countdown Diary...

So here it is.  Rumors are flying all over the blogs and forums.  Here's a collection of what I've seen today, from good to bad:

Star-divide

  • Leaning UT (confirmed this afternoon) (A "source close to the Colorado football program that it’s 'unlikely' the Buffs will land prized recruit Darrell Scott")
  • Leaning UT ("Kimbrel said he is a Longhorn from an good source")
  • Sources conflict ("Just heard form two sources on the Scott situation, and (surprise!), the information is conflicting")
  • Visiting CU over the weekend
  • Leaning CU (Rivals' signing day predictions)
  • Leaning CU ("CU might be 'pulling away'")
  • Leaning CU ("A certain insider at Rivals has received info within the last hour that puts CU's chances 'at much better than 50 percent'")
  • Leaning CU ("word has begun circulating this morning that darrell scott is no longer a texas lean")
  • Leaning CU ("Getting further confirmation that CU will have two running backs in this class")
  • Leaning CU ("according to sources, it appears that the Buffs have the inside track as of Tuesday morning")
  • Leaning CU ("word from the UT coaching staff is that Scott was 'very distant' on the phone last night")
  • Already Declined TX (verbal) ("Apparently DS called the coaches today and told them its CU")
  • Already Committed CU (verbal) ("Just heard a rumor . . . that DS commited to Hagan last night and skipped school today so his coaches would'nt push texas on him anymore")
  • Firm CU ("Irv Brown has just reported that DS will sign with CU")
  • Firm CU ("Its confirmed. Scott to CU")

These reports are all over the place, but they're still fun to read.  What have I missed?

The author of the local Fox report

made a comment this afternoon justifying his prediction:

"i wouldn't go with a source unless it's extremely credible. some sources don't want their name out there. the information is the key, not the name. i can honestly tell you, i have never--and i mean, i have never been wrong on a story in 17 years in the business. one day i might be, but it hasn't happened yet. when i comes to reporting a story like this you have to know your source and trust your source. i have never been accused of throwing something out there and hoping it sticks. i know a number of sportscasters, who have done this, and i feel that its wrong. i am very careful when i do stories like this--i promise you.
one more thing, i never said it's a done deal. the source told me unlikely. i also said, "is expected" to sign with texas."

Damn

I've got a feeling we're not going to get him. Colorado has just been throwing everything at him.

Question of the day
Between Super Tuesday and Signing Day Eve, will today set a record for most bullshit spewed in one day? I vote yes.

PB

Have you heard anything new about which way Scott could be leaning?

by UTman on Feb 5, 2008 6:01 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Like a Cholo

Elbows up, side to side.

You know he's coming here.  I know it, you know it, PB knows it.  Oh wait, what's this?  His uncle goes to CU?  HOLY SHIT! IT'S ALL UP IN THE AIR!  EVERYONE GET ON HIS MYSPACE!

Growing up, I only fed Jared Norton paper. That's why he eats plays.

scotty doesn't know

i'm with you horn brain, this stuff is just getting absurd, but i must admit that it's entertaining nonetheless. i hope mack busted out all of his recruiting magic for this one, and i'm guessing that he did, so let's just keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best. go horns!

Give 'em hell! Give 'em hell! Make 'em eat sh*t!

No

The last I heard, he had his mind set on UT. Now the family's leading on him for CU.

It's impossible to tell if he'll still go with Texas. My gut says yes, but who knows...

logic dictates...
that someone's "excellent source" isn't so excellent. Also, what the hell is "already declined TX" all about? "a six-figure salary for his mom"?

WTF???

Yeah, I didn't mean to endorse the rumor

I strongly doubt that Scott "called the coaches today and told them its CU."  But it says what it says...

I didn't think you were endorsing...

The rumor just doesn't make sense (the reason they provide for his supposed decision). WTF does a six figure salary for his mom have to do with this? Perhaps the rumor was first released by Reggie Bush?

Anticipation Mounts

Question. Is Scott as fast as Charles? Looks like he has legitimate 4.4 speed to me, but i am basing this on highlight tapes from H.S. against nobodys

by 2Bearnest on Feb 5, 2008 7:40 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

I don't think

he is, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't have 4.4 or so speed.  Charles was a track guy, so he was faster than your typical RB

So what if I'm tired? I can rest when I die.
