With all the talk about Scott, what about Smash?

I didn't see anything posted here, but I have heard from a reputable source that TMU is going to revoke its scholarship offer to Brian "Smash" Williams of the Dillon Panthers.

While this isn't entirely surprising, the Longhorns might want to give Williams another look, I have a source who say this charges against Smash are pretty bogus.

Star-divide

The news broke a few weeks ago that Brian had assaulted someone in a movie theater.  And for anyone who saw the footage from the local Applebees, he didn't handle himself very well when ambushed by a journalist.  However, my best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who was at that movie and said Brian took it easy on the punk kid who was taunting both he and his little sister with racial slurs.  However, when TMU cites "questionable character" in their revocation, they guess it's pretty serious.

Personally, I think Smash looks a step slow, almost like he's an actor in his mid-twenties.  But you can't deny the stats he has put up and the fact that he sorta lead his team win the state championship last year.

Smash definitely has liked Texas in the past.  Before the emergence of TMU this season, Smash was quoted as a junior as saying, "Me and Mack Brown are going to get it on in Pasadena. Get my MNC championship on, get my Heisman on."

What do you guys think?  Should Texas give him a shot?

The other thing that really creeps me out, is how much one of those TMU coaches looks like Rick Barnes.

Too Small

And I think his impact on the game is overrated.  I watch all the Dillon games, and earlier this year they pulled out a major victory with both Smash and their starting QB sitting on the bench.  Rumor has it that they are not team players and were being punished for selfishness.  Added to his arrest, he seems like a poor character guy without UT-type talent.

I also don't like the fact that he committed to TMU.  Players who become Longhorns should want to be Longhorns.

If he did come to UT

I hope the English Department would break him of talking in third person.  Also, what would be wrong with bringing in Matt Saracen, he's had his troubles, but he has overcome, won State Championship as a junior, senior year is TBD.

Actually...

He won it as a sophomore.  He's a junior this year.  But if you watch their offense, they hide their quarterback, not highlight him.  How often do they let him throw to his wideouts?  Every offensive play runs through their RB (Smash) or their 5th year senior fullback.

WTF, Riggins is our man...

Riggins should be the one we need at UT.  He'd fit in well with our DUI crowd and could provide endless hours of threads on whether he should be a fullback or a linebacker.

Academic issues?

I heard that there have been significant academic issues with this kid -- suspended for cheating on exams at one point.  Plus he's got a chaotic family situation -- lives with a relative, dad seems to be out of the picture.  Put it this way -- if he's so nutty that Dennis Erickson at ASU wants nothing to do with him, I can't imagine that he'd make it at UT!

Lance/Landry

Would make a great replacement for Chris Jessie!

But as long as Lyla Garrity ends up in chaps on the sideline, I'm good.

Shorty Saracen's Sophomore Season...

...was last year.

And if the Smash is too small, and talking about himself too much - both criticisms I share - then Saracen is hopelessly short.  While the gritty little outsider turned out to be a good QB1, he's got to be 5'6" or something.  That's too short to play QB for the Jayhawks or Mizzou, let alone for the mighty Longhorns.

Regarding Smash's, sorry, The Smash's dreams of playing in Austin, I wonder if the UT lawyers had anything to do with the shift of references from the school in Austin being TMU instead of UT.  I think he wanted to be a Longhorns until the lawyers wanted to obfuscate things.

Bravo

I saw the subject of the thread and thought instantly that the 7 posts were going to tell you to go back to la-la-land and that I was going to have to defend your honor, but everyone in here took this and ran with it.  Shows how good the show is.

Horizontalism is its own reward.

Just watch the tapes...

Smash scores the last-second, game-winning touchdown in every win the Panthers play in. It's not about size, it's about determination, and the Smash has got that in spades.

My adopted kid is pure genius at the Black-Scholes Option Pricing Model.
