New Coaching Attitudes
With respect to the effort during the RRS, the only game this past year where a concerted effort was put forth for all 4 qtrs was the Holiday Bowl. I hope this "Boot Camp" continues for years to come.
This program will always get quality recruits. The question is, will the coaches take these athletes to the next level. I believe the staff is in place (GD???). Will Boot Camp stay in place?
Take 1 player out of the equation (Sir Vincent) and what has this program done in the last 10 years. Holiday and Alamo Bowls. VY was a very unique talent that MB decided to let Vince play his game. The decision worked, but how much talent was not motivated to step-up to VY's. The defense has really had great talent in my mind that didn't play up to their potential, I'll blame coaching and schemes.
You can get all the 5 Star recruits you want, but unless they buy into the "Team' concept, and proper coaching follows, we will continue to have 10 wins and Holiday Bowl experiences. Every position should be open, period...
Remember: Colt was a 3 Star!!!!!!!!!
P.S. Thank you UT/BB for Wed nights thrashing of OU.

Yes, Colt made some
mistakes, but his heart and soul were in winning the game everytime he was on the field. He doesn't have VY talent but he has the drive, in my opinion.
He also had a young offensive line and "GD" to deal with.

Perspective
Your view of the state of the program is interesting. I grew up watching Texas football in the late 70's and early 80's after Darryl Royal retired. Fans back then were as hard on Fred Acres as they are on Mack Brown today. Acres' Longhorns were consistently ranked in the top 10 and played for the national title twice yet I clearly remember the chant of "Fire Fred, fire Fred" during the 86 season. Then came David McWilliams and then John Mackovic (when I was in school at Texas). From 86-97, Texas sufferred through 6 non-winning seasons. Mack Brown is the reason Texas is not sufferring through 4-7 or 5-6 seasons anymore. Things could be a whole lot worse for Texas and before Mack Brown came it certainly was.

Has nothing to do
with Coach Mack. The team responded to his cattle prod before the Holiday Bowl, and I as wondering if it should've been used years earlier to get more out of the athletes.I totally agree to the benefit to the record book under Coach Mack, I'm just saying I think he realized he needed the cattle prod. I also think the players have a different attitude towards the game than years past. Some teams can practice and play California cool, while others might need more of a drill sargent approach.

VY was phenomenal...but
One player doesnt win you a national championship. Don't take me wrong I love vince and I think he was the greatest player I have ever seen in CFB. However, Vince's class was LOADED with talent. Without this phenomenal class, I highly doubt our chances of winning a NC

not really
but I don't really like the dhab Reference at all. Everyone gets in a funk about recruits(D. Scott for example). I say lets play with the guys that want to be here, as long as they want to play hard.
Also, why the BillyZane Ref??? The counselor should be working.
