Nice Night for the NBA Horns
If I were to tell you that our three most recent NBA stars all had a good night scoring, who would you think scored the most?
What about the most rebounds?
Most assists?
What about who played the fewest minutes?
Well the answer to all of these last night, was TJ Ford. Coming off the bench to drop in 28 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists, in 27 minutes of play. Its good to see this kind of production, as I hope it is an indication he is fully recovered from his injury earlier in the year.
Lamarcus put in 20 points, and Durant had a 27 point outing.
Man, why couldn't Dallas have gone for Ford instead of Kidd?

You're kidding right?
I love TJ, and I'll always pull for him to do well in the pros, but the Mavs are much better off with Kidd.

Disagree
The Mavs were much better off with Harris and Diop.

Maybe...
...I bet Golden State wishes they were still here.

Nah
GS is probably salivating after the move. How does Jason Kidd help Dallas beat GS. Mavs lost their best interior defensive presence in Diop. And Harris was a matchup problem with his speed. As a Rockets fan, I was extremely happy to see Harris leave the Mavs.

I think its too early to tell with Kidd
As a UT fan, I want TJ here.
And I think you dont have to give up so much for Ford as they did for Kidd, which could hurt the Mavs in the coming years. One of those first round draft picks could still be here, as well as Diop most likely.
Anyway, the comment was basically just me being selfish, as I loves me some TJ, and would love to go see him at the home games.

Mavs problems
I just dont see how Mavs can get to the finals this year or the next.
Dont get me wrong. I am a huge mavs fan and stuck with them when they were horrendous. (remember back in 94,95,96,97,98? you get the idea)
I credit Cuban and Nellie for turning the franchise around, but they made some critical errors over past 3-4 years.
- They gave up on drafts. Instead of looking for young talent, Mavs overspent on Lafrentz and Dampier. Dallas should have followed spurs who found hidden gems year after year with late 1st round picks.
- Traded away young talent like Jamison and got Stackhouse, George, Buckner, Hassell. (Jamison had a really expensive tag, but I think that would have been a wiser financial decision over Lafrentz, Dampier...etc..)
- With Kidd, Dallas probably got alot tougher mentally. As much as I liked Harris, Dallas need a true point guard who can distribute, not a slasher like Devin. But in a long run...Kidd turns 35 this month, and I dont know how much longer he can be effective
I just feel that Mavs are destined to end up like the Kings couple of years ago. A serious contender who never won a championship and fell apart shortly after. I guess our best hope is on Josh Howard turning into someone like D-wade

Agreed!
I saw on tv this morning that Durant had 27 and Ford had 28, so I decided to look up LaMarcus, then voila, this post.
I didnt take the time to check up on all the other Horns though, but Royal getting increase play time is another great trend to see. He was a great competitor for us.
