I got the game on ESPN 360 at work on monitor 2
and with the ridiculous amount of work I have been doing and will be doing for the next 4 months, the bosses better not say a damn thing.
ESPN 360
I have a pretty significant delay. Is that normal with 360. I've never used it before
Horns up 9-5, under 16 timeout
We're giving up too many off rebounds but look solid and comfortable on offense.
13-11 OSU
Nice jumper by Gary off assist from AJ. OSU starting to love the three ball.
Strong move by Gary to the basket.
I'm glad
someone is getting to watch the game. I am sitting at work(on an AF base) with no video and only the ability to refresh ESPN.
Keep the updates coming, its much faster than ESPN.
I think
Sean Sutton needs a couple more chins.
That did not look good for Johnson, he immediately signaled for help when he went down.
He's clogging up the middle a little more
Seems to be disrupting some of what OSU wants to do inside and we're not giving up rebounds the last two trips down. Maybe he will play some solid minutes.
Jumping out of position on ball fakes
is not helping. He must stay on the floor to be effective on defense. You may see Dex for 10 minutes today but only b/c Barnes realizes that if we win, we must play again tomorrow.
I am not in the Dex camp this season. He is NOT ready.
And Texas
is forced to go zone b/c Dex can't guard anyone. Tyler Hatch also in the game.
Very nice finish by James in transition. Horns lead 15-14
Horns up 15-14, under 12 timeout
Decent start. OSU has hit a couple of threes and has at least five off rebounds already. Horns doing a nice job of attacking the paint, both off the dribble and with Gary, Dex, and Connor in the post.
so far
James is playing great and hitting shots, the team really needs that.
Augustin is playing well and not trying to do everything himself. I liked when he drove into the paint and hit a wall and kicked it out instead of trying to force it.
James with another 3!!
Pittman
I assumed he was brought in to see if we can find someone that can get a defensive rebound...
errr
his teammates need to help him out when he picks up his dribble like that, he had to make a desperation pass.
I do wonder if Mason is going to be the point guard next year (if DJ leaves). How good is Balbay??
Damo
Damo is having a nice shooting game.
I want to see AJ get involved with a short range jumper. I hate it when he starts the game 0-5.
Connor
not looking good. Two missed threes, an airballed hook shot, an airballed FT, and not blocking out on D. We need ya, Connor.
Horns lead 23-20, under 8 tv timeout.
half-court offense
I love the ball movement! That is light years ahead of the way they played last season.
Connor is having a woeful game as far as shooting. Still plenty of time to get in the groove, though.
Damion is carrying the team, it would be nice to get some outside shots from AJ. (MADE shots, that is)
Johnson has gone to the locker room with apparent right foot/ankle injury.
Turnover on DJ
Easy layup by Eaton. Tie game. Two fouls on Eaton. Nice job by Wingman taking the charge.
Wingman
lane violation with DJ, an 80% shooter, at the line.
Gary doubtful for return with leg injury.
Gary Johnson
lower right leg injury - return to the game is doubtful, according to craig way
Gary Johnson doubtful for rest of game...
they dont think its broken but hes hurt his lower right ankle
Longhorns lead 30-24, under 4 tv timeout
With Johnson out for the rest of the game, Texas needs solid minutes for Chap, Wingman, and Dex. Hopefully we'll get some but Gary is by far our best low post threat.
DJ and James are both going nuts on offense. If we block out better, this lead could easily reach double digits.
Looking good
without Connor having a good game, but I think he has to turn it on a little for us to finish this one without Gary.
He looks like hes scared to shoot now
He has to keep shooting when he gets open shots. Shooters keep firing away til they get their stroke going.
Two empty possessions for Horns
Turnover trying to feed the post and missed shot by James.
Nice pass by Eaton and OSU within four.
Going 2 for 1
That's why he took that 3.

The one or two possessions before that...
he did the same thing. It seems like any time the other team makes a push he feels the need to go down the floor and answer back with a quick three. I appreciate his heart in that respect, but I'd prefer seeing the offense run for an open shot. Shooting with a man in your face from the arc is a low percentage shot.
Missed three by OSU
leads to runout by DJ. Nice look by James.
Horns up 32-30, 10 seconds left.
we are letting them hang around...argh...
i think dj is forcing too much in this game
It's more that we're not rebounding on D
Also, OSU is shooting lights out right now from the perimeter. I don't see that lasting through most of the second half. I think we will get a little cushion going at the start of the 2nd half.
Lights out?
They're shooting 4-13 from 3. We're 6-11.
by Texas Wahoo on Mar 14, 2008 12:31 PM CDT up reply actions
Offensive rebounds + easy putbacks + 3 pointers
I meant its a combination of those because of the lack of defensive rebounding by the Horns. Ibrahima is shooting lights out. He never shoots that well from the perimeter.
Harris
He seems to have gotten worse at 3s every year he's been at OSU. He's under 30% for the season this year.
by Texas Wahoo on Mar 14, 2008 12:38 PM CDT up reply actions
Lately he's been good for two or three per game
Plus he has the ability to go inside. He provides a lot of points off the bench for them. I really don't understand why Sutton brings him off the bench, yet he plays 3/4 of the game.
Harris three gives OSU 33-32 halftime lead
DJ has 12 pts and is playing well. James also came to play. But Connor is way off as is AJ. This is exactly what we talked about after the last OSU game and in our author roundtable earlier this week: can this team continue to win when only one or two guys are 'on?'
Horns must pick up the intensity on defense as well. Eaton is causing problems when he gets into the lane and OSU is simply killing Texas on the glass. The Cowboys have eight off rebounds. That is totally unacceptable.
Without Gary, we need to find a way to get some easy looks on offense. That may be in transition or in the post with James. AJ and Connor need to hit a couple of jumpers as well.
all right
time to see if I can replace the motherboard in my Mac before the 2nd half starts...
Steal by Horns
Nice finish by AJ off DJ feed in transition.
Horns 7-0 run in 1 1/2 minutes of second. Awesome.
Barnes is such a good motivator
It seems like we always come out strong at the start of the 2nd half after Barnes gives them a pep talk and tries to correct problems.
Marcus Dove
will not play in the NBA if he can't even hit the rim. I've never seen a player so good on D and so bad on offense.
12-0 run to start the half
nice
Looking
at the posts here and the gamecast on espn.com, it looks like OSU is starting to press and throwing up 3's like their going out of style.
Realistic statement for those watching?
Texas is forcing them to take contested shots
So yeah, what you said is about right. The last three OSU possessions have all gone down to a shot clock buzzer or sub 5 seconds on the shot clock.
44-33 Texas, under 16 timeout
OSU still hasn't scored this half. Much better D by Horns. Love the aggressive 2-3 zone.
Connor's house
Don't take it there
Intentional foul
MY A$$$$$$.... that is the most ridiculous call so far.. sheez.. Connor is a beast!

Can't see the game...following gamecast
But seriously, a 14-0 run to start the second half?
This coaching staff never ceases to amaze me with their halftime adjustments.
Great play by Barnes
to isolate James on Eaton. Who says he can't do the Xs and O's?
Horns up 46-38, under 12 timeout.
As long as the D continues, we'll be fine.
...
my espn 360 broadcast for the game just stopped. now they're showing my some dumb big east rerun. this happen to anyone else?
Beautiful J by James
Horns up 50-38.
Eaton and Dove are perfect examples of why I don't think Sean Sutton is the coach for OSU. Their players simply don't get better.
Damion, don't go all Gibson on us ...
... wow, if he plays like this the next few weeks, No. 5 will be out the door for a hefty paycheck.

That was impressive Atchley...
That was a bad pass into him and he collected it and made a little baby hook with a man on him. Very nice.
Inside-out game between Atchley/James
That play ended up being a charge call, but I would like to see those two do that more often. That would be a lethal combination.
Under 8, Tx 56-46
Charging call on James before the break. Could have easily kicked it to Wingman for an easy finish but jumped toward the rim a little too much.
I don't mind running time off but we need to keep getting buckets as well.
Mason with a great drive
He might of pushed off but it was against Eaton so he deserved the benefit of the doubt. Lets finish this thing off right now.
Really impressive win. I'm proud of the team.
They've endured a long string of tough games against teams that were fighting for their NCAA bid lives. The entire team played well today and Barnes coached like the National Coach of the Year he is.
Nice
good win for the Horns. A little nervousness in the second half but they held on and played really solid D.
Love how calm Rick is
What a different coach he has been during the second half of the season. Calm, confident, lets his players play.
Texas wins 66-59. Not easy but a solid win nonetheless. Much better D in second half. DJ and Damion were fantastic, Connor played great in the second half, and Justin played solid D all game long.
Only AJ struggled. Gary's injury is another cause for concern.
Play winner of OU and Colorado tomorrow.
I like our chances in the semis
I think we match up pretty well against either opponent and I think we have an excellent shot to make it to Sunday.
Rick addresses #1 seed
First time I've heard him talk about it all year. He usually just says it doesn't matter and that they are just focusing on the next game.
Rick says he will be very disappointed if Big XII tourney champ doesn't earn a #1 seed. We'll see...
Tennessee is in a battle in Atlanta.
Completely agree with that comment
Big 12 is the #2 RPI conference isn't it? If Texas and KU end up playing this Sunday then it absolutely makes sense that the winner would be a #1 seed.
Jay Bilas on ESPN
grrrr.. he's a moron... He has Kansas as a number one seed and then in the next breath says.. "If a team shows that they can beat good teams then they should be ranked higher" ... hmmmm.. We've beat Kansas, UCLA, and Tennesee.. all of whom are ranked above us.. What does that make us? What other team has done what our LONGHORNS have done? Yeah, we've lost a couple of heartbreakers.. but still.. we've beaten more top 10 teams than any other team. To me, this makes absolutely no sense. Does it to anyone else?
by LadyLonghorninOK on Mar 14, 2008 4:53 PM CDT up reply actions
I agree about Kansas
Has not defeated a ranked team at home or on the road. Nobody has the body of work of a Texas. Take out the losses to Mizzou and Tech on the road, and nobody in the country has a better resume. Period.
Why?
are we the only ones who see this? I am sick of hearing about how good Kansas, UCLA, Memphis,UNC, and Tenn are... We've beaten three of the five... Where's the love?
by LadyLonghorninOK on Mar 14, 2008 5:39 PM CDT up reply actions
Yeah it just hasnt been there enough
We received lots of love after the Kstate win but the loss to Tech and two sub-par performances against Nebraska and OSU have taken some of the shine off of Texas. A good showing this weekend and winning the Big 12 tourney should get most of that respect back.
This is a little off-topic but...
is ESPN 360 going to air the early rounds of the NCAA tournament? Or is that going to be exclusively on the CBS site? And is that available to everyone? Thanks for the info.
The Bad news is ....
it is CBS.....I wish it was ESPN, I cannot stand Billy (ACC) Packer.
by UTBB on Mar 14, 2008 1:45 PM CDT reply actions
cbs is horrible
they provide no commentary or analysis
and take every opportunity they can to do a commercial break
no stats
no instant replays
Tennessee hangs on by the skin of their teeth
Another potential upset goes by the way side as it seems like the #1 seed is not meant to be for the Big 12 Champion. UCLA and Tennessee keeps surviving each game.
Johnson is OK
He wore a boot, but they said he could play tomorrow. He didn't play much today, so he should be fresh for tomorrow against CU/OU.
Is it just me, or is AJ Abrams completely expendable? Yeah it's great when he's making his shots, and I'm sure he's won some games for us single-handedly, but we can make up for his loss. It's just that when he takes a lot of shots and misses most of them, it's a killer.
AJ shot poorly again today, but at least he only took 8 of them. This allows DJ/James to score more.
It just seems like AJ's positive contributions are more of a bonus than a necessity.
by goingforthecorner on Mar 14, 2008 3:21 PM CDT reply actions
Whether he is hitting or missing
he is a huge part of the offense. Teams have to keep a guy on top of him all of the time, and that makes everything easier. Without his threat teams tend to bunch in the middle, double DJ and dare us to have Mason or James beat them with outside shots.
You are correct that we have enough other scorers that we can handle an off scoring night from him, but don't think he is not contributing to the offense even when he is not hitting his shots.
I agree about his presence
but when he takes a lot of shots and shoots like 30% from the field, he's hurting us more than he's helping us. I would rather take some of his shots and let James, Johnson, and Connor take them.
by goingforthecorner on Mar 14, 2008 4:11 PM CDT up reply actions
We need AJ
Yes, he can struggle mightily from the field, but he has come a long way this year. Like Poteet said, he does occupy the other team's #1 or 2 defender the whole game, and he runs the hell out of him. This matters when said defender goes to contribute on the offensive end, and doesn't have the legs he needs late in the 2nd half. Also, AJ has played much smarter in the latter half of the season. He started out the year taking 12-15 shots a game, and is now closer to 8-10. He's taking better shots and as streaky as he is, he can absolutely be a dagger to the other team. I wish I had a litany of stats to roll out to defend my argument, but, like Mason, a lot of AJ's contributions might not come through on a score sheet.
