ESPN 2 HD is blacked out...
... because we're in Texas, where sucky non-HD ESPN+ is handling coverage. I am enraged. If I lived in Alaska, I could watch in HD, but not in Texas, where I care.
11-6 OU, under 16
DJ doing a nice job getting into the lane. Has found Connor and James already.
D is lacking, though.
D looked good...
... on the first possession but has been ho-hum since. OU making ridiculous shots isn't helping either.
not a great start
settling for 3's, missing them, not rebounding.
getting schooled in the paint on defense. Rick needs to do some rotating or make some adjustments.
Did the team
forget to block out. I know they're playing zone, but they've got to put a body on someone.
Because they hate us.
Ok wow. I'll accept having seen that shot. Wow.

Yeah that's rough
I can't imagine them doing well in that. Especially after an emotional OT game.

13-12 OU, under 12 timeout
Nice find there by Mason after his shot was blocked out of bounds on the previous try.
OU cold from three and Horns doing decent job on long rebounds. As long as Sooners stay cold from three, Texas will be able to sit in zone and limit Griffin's touches.
I am sure this has been covered before, but...
Why are so many Big 12 games in football and basketball not in HD. Does this have to do with Big 12's TV contract or are there not enough viewers or is it some HD blackout within Texas so fans go to the games?
It is very annoying.
23-22 Texas, under 8 timeout
Alexis giving us great minutes. Tough blocking call there before the timeout.
AJ has now hit last two threes. Thank you.
OU is still cold from three but getting too many long rebounds now.
I was really impressed by Wingman his last basket
If he continues to develop like he is, he will be tough to handle for any team. Tipping the ball off the backboard and putting it back with two opposing players that already have position on you is just sick.
Glad to see
that the Horns haven't really played that well and are still up 1. If the defense is tightened up, they can go on a nice little run here.
Is it just me or do we look tired?
Every player had their hands on their hips those last free throws.
AJs FT
Kind of suggests that as well. Shorted the first one.

James had me worried the most...
He was huffing more than anyone on the floor during Oklahoma's free throws. After seeing him hit that last 3 though, his form looked solid.
Even with Atch in
Unless we get Longar or Grif in foul trouble. I don't really like Atch on Longar and James on Griffin. The zone helps, but if they heat up and we have to switch to man - not match-ups I'm a fan of.

29-26 Texas, under four timeout
James and DJ have come to play again. AJ has hit two threes but all our bigs are in foul trouble and we're having trouble on the defensive glass.
Time for Mason and James to get more involved on the glass. Switching out of zone to man will help some as well.
Watch DJ start to get some easy DP here...
... now that AJ is going to draw another body out wide.
Horns up 36-29, one min left
Damion knocks down his free throws. Would be nice to get a stop and then a bucket before halftime.
Agreed...
no need to play Pittman w/ the way Wingman is playing. Just figured Barnes might try to buy a minute or two with Big Dex.
Looks like James has been working on his FT stroke as he's been shooting much better the past few games.
I expect Barnes
to "address" the rebounding disparity.
I love when the sideline reporters get in a pissed off coach's face.
36-29 at half
Nice half by the Horns. The zone really frustrated the Sooners. Their best offense was a missed shot, similar to the first half against OSU. OU was just 2/9 from three.
DJ looks confident and is shooting the ball well. He does have a couple of turnovers though. James is playing at a high level again and Mason has a couple of nice assists. AJ has arrived in KC and hit three first half threes. We really needed his production. Connor and Alexis doing all they can against the talent Blake Griffin.
still need to do a better job on the defenseive glass, but another half like that and we will move on.
DJ today...
...has been really, really, really good.
This is what it means for a PG to be "in control"...
He has been indeed....
You can tell the Oklahoma interior D is staying at home when DJ drives. DJ's ability to find the open man should provide for some nice open shots.
Solid first half - reminded me of yesterday some
We started out a little flat but picked it up near the end of the half. I hope everything works out the same as yesterday when we came out strong on a 12-0 run to start the 2nd half.
Wingman needs to keep his intensity up and AJ needs to hit his open shots. James wasn't getting much help on the boards and had to basically try and block out two people much of the 1st half. If we correct the defensive rebounding situation we should be looking at another solid win.
UNC
losing to va tech almost halfway into the 2nd half. if duke wins the acc tourney could unc miss out on a number 1 seed?
Absolutely
If Duke or UNC win the ACC, then they will get the #1 in the East. If they were to both lose and Georgetown wins tonight, look out. Both Duke and UNC could end up on the #2 line. Long way to go though.
Right now:
#1s: Tenn, Memphis, UCLA, UNC
#2s: Duke, Kansas, Texas, Georgetown
I think
that if both Duke & UNC both lose in the ACC tourney, then Texas/Kansas (assuming one of them wins the Big 12) could bump up the the #1 line.
lol...
i wasnt watching the first half of the game cuz i had a tutor for chemistry. but i had the tv on and i heard some crazy stuff (14 team fouls [i was like wtf]? someone on a 7-0 run? fans screaming?) so i was all nervous. well i can breath a sigh or relief now that i know the score. whew
Deep voiced Adam West...
... Just gave DJ credit for AJ's shooting in the first half...
Very bad start in 2nd half
OU on 7-0 run

Anyone want to change...
... their roundtable?
Kidding of course. AJ is just keeping us afloat, we need someone else to pull away.
Meanwhile
Carolina down three, three minutes left.
Michigan State up on Wisconsin 53-44, 7 min left. Spartans playing their way to a #4 seed at least.
These commentators
are slurping on DJ! Love it.

Great tough shot by DJ
I love this team because they follow up a 7-0 run by OU with an 11-0 run of their own. They don't panic in the face of adversity.
Best Point Guard in the Country
and its not even close. Collison, no. Rose, no. Lawson, no.
DJ Freaking Augustin.
Hell Yes, Again
AJ with a steal, DJ with a steal, Pittman with nice D, strong finish by James from Mason.
Loving this.
54-40 Texas, 12 min left.
At what point
can we start resting some guys for tomorrow?

Time to start thinking and coaching for Sunday
Can we rest our starters a little? Wingman and Chap and Dex check in please.
I feel bad for Va Tech

They were kissing it
before he even got the ball. Actually, it was more of a sucking sound.
Lets rest the starters now
I know there's lots of time, but we need rest.
DJ to the bench. I like.

by goingforthecorner on Mar 15, 2008 2:43 PM CDT reply actions
This is totally out of hand
Please just finish with no injuries. I've never wanted to see JD Lewis so much in my life.
68-47, under 8 tv timeout.
I'd like a nasty crowd chewing on them.
The KC crowd is just sitting on its hands.
Pittman
It won't show on the stat sheet, but Pittman having a great game on the defensive end. Longar & B. Griffin are clearly uncomfortable with the big fella's post defense.
He's a load to work around.
The longer Dex can stay in the game, the better it wears on the opposition. This particular situation is well suited for him playing. Make them work for any inside shots, which is discouraging.
Let 'em eat threes.
C'mon Barnes take 'em out

Sooners shooting 35%
When Texas holds opponents under 40% from the floor, the Longhorns are undefeated this season.
18-0 now

72-49 Texas, under four timeout
It is crazy to think this game was tied at 36. Texas on a 36-13 run after inital OU run off the half.
I'd like to see some bench players too. However, we haven't had a blowout like this since the A&M game in Austin. We really haven't run out the clock with our bench players all year.
We were due a blow-out.
Horns have had a lot of tough games in a row.
Take down on aisle 5
A little wrasslin' sidelight.
Wisconsin wins
Nice comeback by the Badgers. Could they be a #2 seed? Probably not. More likely a strong #3.
300-pound elbows of steel.
With a big smile in the middle.
Lets go Dexy
Our bench players are really schizophrenic. I thought Wangmene became a rotational player, and then he barely gets any playing time if at all in the final games of the regular season.
Then Dexy barely gets any playing time and then both he and Wingman get big minutes in the OU game. Maybe it's just about the matchups.
by goingforthecorner on Mar 15, 2008 3:00 PM CDT reply actions
I suspect the two Griffins and L2
force the usage, saving fouls on the starters and giving more mass in the paint. Possibly a prelude to teams Horns might encounter with big front line.
Horns Advance 77-49
Dominating second half by Texas. Strong first half performances from DJ, AJ, and Damion. Nice help off the bench by Dex and Alexis.

Rick to AJ: Stop thinking.
It's an intuitive game, not a rational one on the floor.
Does this mean...
that we OWN the state of OKLAHOMA???? 8-0, 9-0 aginst Mobilehoma this year????

Looking forward to the...
next few years of Sexy Dex vs. Blake Griffin...talk about tradin' paint.
Solid win...gotta think the Sooners ran out of gas...3 game, 3 days.
Still wondering why Barnes left the starters in there so long...seems like you could have rested them from the five minute mark.
Lasly, where's the love for Ian "you're so" Mooney, what about a little PT for the walk-on...I know, probably saving him for KU.
May not have much to look forward to
Blake Griffin is a first round pick if he comes out now. I have thought that he was likely to come back so that he could play with his brother for another year. But after two knee surgeries this season, he could easily decide to turn pro now and cash the biggest check he can.
Even if he does come back, next year will be his last.
Win the Tournament
I still can't believe I was reading on here a few days ago that the Horns would benefit from losing!? and even come nutty suggestions of not starting A.J.
I want to win every game and do it with our best players on the floor.
Hook 'em and beat Kansas again!
