I'm satisfied
Where the hell did you hear that

ROCKETS BEAT LAKERS!
Time to update my sig.
I've never been more nervous... this is it! Is it Houston or Phoenix?
Does Memphis have a right to complain if Texas is in the South? I don't buy it. They're just a victim of this S-curve thing. It's not like some conspiracy.

WOW
UNC will have to deal with Eric Gordon in the 2nd round!
by goingforthecorner on Mar 16, 2008 5:11 PM CDT reply actions
I might have Tennessee losing
to Butler in the 2nd round.

South Alabama
gets to play in Birmingham, AL. First mistake by the committee.
Indiana deserved better than a #8. Ouch.
I like Louisville in this bracket.
IU penalized by committee
because of the whole Sampson scandal. How can you justify this?

OU as a #6
means that the Big XII may get some love = Baylor and Kansas State both in the tourney?
So Tenn is the 4th #2 seed...
Things are pointing towards us being in the South bracket. We would have to be either the 1st or 2nd #2 considering how close we played KU on a what I consider KU's home court.
Oh that's right...
With KU in the Midwest there's no way they would put us there would they? South here we come...
Its either South or West
KU as the #1 in Midwest means we can't be in the Midwest either.

They have had some ridiculous games
That one where Hibbert didn't score much (or any) and they hit all those 3s was crazy. If they shoot like that and Hibbert stays out of foul trouble I can see them getting really deep. Still, they are really inconsistent from what I've seen.
KU is definitely Final Four bound
That bracket won't be too rough on them if they continue to play the way they have been lately.
WOOT
Beasley vs Mayo!

Stanford the 2???
If Stanford is the other 2, they cant go to the west.
Bad news
#10 seeds getting some home court love
Now Davidson.
by goingforthecorner on Mar 16, 2008 5:22 PM CDT reply actions
Midwest
Kansas and G'town: very good top two seeds.
Vandy gets too high a seed.
Mayo vs. Beasley in round one. Love it.
I like Southern Cal to make the Elite Eight.
I like Davidson as well with Steven Curry.
Texas and Duke are last #2s
Who goes west with UCLA and who gets to stay in the South with Memphis? I'm really nervous right now.
Michigan State and Pitt both in our bracket
but both have to play each other before us. And then the winner plays Memphis.
WE'RE IN THE SOUTH.
Austin Peay is our game.
Then winner of Miami vs St. Mary's (rematch?!)
by goingforthecorner on Mar 16, 2008 5:27 PM CDT reply actions
Stanford #3 seed
I take them losing in the second round
Holy crap...... how do we not make the Final Four
by goingforthecorner on Mar 16, 2008 5:28 PM CDT reply actions
That's a really scrappy South bracket
Whoever gets to the Final Four will have to win some tough games. Talk about having to earn it...
South
Freaking love it. Miami or St. Mary's. Initially, not scared at all.
Pitt vs. Michigan State: get out the pads.
Stanford could be a matchup problem
with their big guys. If we play them, Dexy, Wangmene, Connor, and Johnson have to come up huge. BUT... it's in HOUSTON WOOOOO
by goingforthecorner on Mar 16, 2008 5:30 PM CDT reply actions
Stanford's got the Lopez boys
but nothing at guard. If we get the Cardinal in the Sweet 16, I'm not worried. We'll need to double team, juke like we did with Blake Griffin and Michael Beasley.
In so many years, I've pissed at our road. I really like this one. Totally fair and we could get to play in Houston.
Lopez "trees" get into foul trouble a lot
I agree. If our bigs stay out of foul trouble we could handle them.
Don't you think PB will be pleased...
He must be freaking on his plane!
Stanford always gets knocked off early
not concerned about them
Ooooohhhh... Aggies
could get to play UCLA, and they play similar styles... you never know.
by goingforthecorner on Mar 16, 2008 5:34 PM CDT reply actions
Duke could lose to West VA in 2nd round
both live and die by threes. That game would be a toss up.
by goingforthecorner on Mar 16, 2008 5:35 PM CDT reply actions
Baylor in !!!
by goingforthecorner on Mar 16, 2008 5:36 PM CDT reply actions
Wow
SEC gets same number of teams as Pac 10 and Big 12, and ACC gets 4.
by goingforthecorner on Mar 16, 2008 5:38 PM CDT reply actions
We miss some trap teams...
Like G'town, Vandy, Mich. State, Wisconsin, Xavier, WVU, the Irish ...
Dear Longhorns:
XOXO,
The Other UT
(U)T for 2
Here's hoping, man. Of course, we just lost the SEC tournament. Again.
by Holly Anderson on Mar 16, 2008 5:42 PM CDT up reply actions
I suppose it's better
to choke every year in the conference tournament than the big show...but you'd think we'd play a complete game in Atlanta by accident at some point. You would be wrong.

West
Like the road for UCLA.
Bruins and Aggies in 2nd round. First to 40 points wins.
Arizona may be the most talented 10 seed in history. I'd love to see Zona and Duke in round 2.
That Butler v South Alabama game...
Home game for South Bama. I haven't seen them play, but that's one heck of an advantage for a 10 seed. Butler better bring it.
Bilas and Bobby Knight
want to get rid of automatic bids and just pick the top 64 teams.
Hmmm...unlikely guys.
Disagree
I usually agree with both of those guys but not here. We don't need the top 64 teams to decide a 'true' national champ. The teams from the lower conferences enhance the tourney; they do not diminish it at all.
Come one guys, give the little guys their moments to shine.
I already hate the play-in game...
...and I'd really be disappointed if they changed the format.
The chance of seeing a 16-seed lower conference champion knock off a #1 seed is more important than making sure that Ohio State got into the tournament...
Totally Agree
Va Tech, Ohio State, Arizona State, etc. just need to beat the top teams. They shouldn't be rewarded for mediocrity.
Not to mention it increases competitiveness
Those "mid majors" that nobody used to know anything about (Butler/Drake/etc) are getting more revenue for their programs and it makes Division 1 Basketball more competitive throughout the regular season and into the tournament.
I wouldn't want to see anything changed. It's a great system.
ok.. I am pleased..
Looks like we landed in a pretty good spot... HOOK EM and seeya in Houston!!

Friday game... but what time?
Has anyone seen what time we play? When and how does that info usually get released?
Billy ACC Packer
Just took exception with Virginia Tech being left out. He says that the ACC is the top rated conference but only got four teams. Well, they are the top rated confernce b/c of UNC, Duke, and Clemson, not b/c of Va Tech.
The Hokies beat one top 50 team, Miami. That's not enough.
Clark Kellogg
Just picked all four #1s to make the Final Four. Way to go out on a limb, Clark.
Kellogg is a tool...
...what a moron.
I like his sleepers, even though I really don't think any of them are sleepers...
Tuning to ESPN now
Digger also taking exception with Va Tech being left out. The Hokies best argument is almost beating UNC. That sucks. A good loss, that is it. Give me a break.
This is the weakest bubble in years. In previous years, Va Tech and Arizona State wouldn't even be in the discussion.
Pittsburgh
Just realized that Pitt's protected pod is Denver. There simply aren't enough good teams out west. There are only two first round destinations in the west, Anaheim and Denver.
Anaheim: Stanford and UCLA
Denver: Washington State and Pitt
It's a pretty sad field...
...and the teams I think are the friskiest are probably going to go down before the Sweet 16.
I cannot even begin to explain how excited I am to have tickets for the Houston Regional...
Knock on Wood
Can somebody please explain
Why is there a play-in game? Did somebody decide that 64 teams was not quite enough?
A few years ago
they added an automatic bid. So, to keep it at 64 they would have had to eliminate an at-large bid. Sounds easy but they decided not to. So, now we have the same number of at-large bids and one more automatic bid.
Tourney starts on Tuesday in Dayton.
Pods
Anaheim: Stanford and UCLA
Denver: Washington State and Pitt
Birmingham: Tennessee and Louisville
Tampa: Vanderbilt and UConn
Washington DC: Xavier and Duke
Raleigh: North Carolina and Georgetown
Omaha: Kansas and Wisconsin
Little Rock: Memphis and Texas
That head committee guy
blatantly says he doesn't give a crap about the conference RPI rank. Pretty cool this year so we can see the ESPN guys explode that their poor ACC conference only gets 4 teams.

rematch with kansas in the national championship
i love this team.
no complaints
I'm fine with the field. A couple teams over and underseeded, and a few odd placements, but I think the teams selected are correct. My last four were the last four that made it, and I had Georgia stealing the Arizona State spot.
I think Texas has a great draw, though it is odd to have that potential St. Mary's rematch or a match-up with ex Texas assistant Frank Haith. That would be somewhat interesting.
Stanford seems formidable, but I think their guards suck. If we can zone the Lopez twins, we should be okay.
Nothing is guaranteed, but i do like our chances.
