What are your tournament expectations for UT mens basketball?
We got what we wanted. 2 seed in the South. But we still have to play the games, and we'll be playing games against some tough opponents. A possible rematch with St. Mary's is a concern. The big trees in Stanford. Memphis' sick athleticism. The smash mouth play of Pitt and Michigan State, etc...

My question is what are you honest expectations of our team? The question is not how far do you want us to go, it's how far does Texas have to go to satisfy you?

I think y'all are looking at an eventual matchup
with Stanford.
If you win that game, you will be officially exceeding expectations, imo, and anything after that is gravy.
I'm not trying to rip on y'all, I just think your team has overachieved to this point in the season, considering the fact that you don't have a true post presence.
I expect you to beat Austin Peay and Miami, and then I believe you will face Stanford (unless BCG pulls a miracle, and UK makes a run to the Sweet 16).
You get past them, you're in the Elite 8 against Memphis, who is more athletic than y'all, but can't hit free throws. If you get to face Memphis, it is a successful season.

Dude... Come on...
We've beaten them every way they come. Big, quick, smooth, "Tenacious", ugly, skilled and Aggie... Oh wait, I already mentioned ugly.
Seriously, though, we haven't lost to any team that we couldn't beat now. Especially with a heavy Texas presence in the arena. We've got the quickness to bury the Tree, and I wouldn't be surprised to see us lay into Memphis when Barnes finds a way to defend that crazy offense. My point is that we can make the Final Four as long as our legs stay under us. The biggest worry for us should be getting gassed and disappearing for the final 4:42 of the Memphis game. Hopefully the extra day of rest between games will make the difference between clang and swish in Clutch City. [/obligatory Rockets reference]

Elite 8
I don't know anything about Miami, but not really worried. Stanford's the first troublesome matchup, but I think Texas can run on them, especially in Houston. I would think it'd be cake if Abrams is on. If he's not, could be a long grind.
Memphis is scary. We'll have the crowd, and the fact they play weaker competition and may not be ready. I'd be nervous but definitely might pull it out.

I voted Elite 8
because if we lost to #1 Memphis, I wouldn't be upset even though the game is in Houston. Therefore, I'd have to be satisfied with just getting to the Elite 8.
And yes Stanford will be a challenge for us assuming they can get by Marquette, which isn't exactly a sure thing.
In Houston, if the crowd supporting UT is anywhere close to the crowd supporting KU today, I think I would have to give us the edge over Memphis. Augustin vs Rose is a dynamite matchup. So is James vs Dorsey.

looking at everything with this seasons
and all of the questions about this team coming into this season, it will be hard for me to root for anything less than an elite 8 or final 4. i didnt write this team off but did not expect this kind of season with all these youngsters man this was by far the greatest bball season i've seen as a whole. i didnt get a chance to see the final 4 team some years back, but i know that this team is very special and i cant put a long run in the tourney past me. hell i live out here in san antonio and already the phones for a connection into the game if the horns make it that far.

Final 4 is a possibility
To me, Pittsburgh is the scariest team in the South bracket. Now that they are healthy I believe they can beat Memphis if they end up playing them.
