Longhorn Women Upset 10th-ranked Sooners
Well this may take a little of the sting out of the men's loss in Lubbock yesterday. The Texas women took this one by a full 15 points on the road, despite another double-double (her 88th) by Courtney Paris. The victory kept o.u. out of first place in the Big XII and burnished the Horn's (18-11, 6-9 Big XII) tournament resume considerably.
The Longhorns picked up a crucial win in their bid to make it back to the NCAA tournament by handing Oklahoma its first home loss to an unranked opponent since SMU beat a 15th-ranked Sooners squad 71-68 on Dec. 21, 2002. It was Texas’ second straight Big 12 road win after starting conference play 0-6 outside of Austin.
There's a good write-up of the game in the Dallas Morning News as well.
UT's Brittainey Raven had 16 points, and Erneisha Bailey added 14. Texas drained 15 of 16 free throws in the final 1:48 and captured its fifth win over a Top 25 opponent – four of them against teams in the top 15.
If the NCAA Tournament selection committee is looking for reasons to include Texas, that alone may be enough. UT's brand recognition and Goestenkors' star power are two more. But the Longhorns need to win Wednesday's regular-season finale against Texas Tech, too.

It is nice to finally see a Texas team on the other side of an upset win!!
You mean like when Texas upset Tennessee, UCLA, and Kansas? Oh wait never mind, our season is over because we lost to Tech.

Expected.............!
I always expect to beat ou. The fact that they "were" ranked #10 in the nation just makes it better. The victory kept o.u. out of first place in the Big XII. just makes it better....Congrats to the "TEAM".

That's right
I remember they do that every year now. I knew it was Texas Independence Day. Cool
Happy belated Texas Independence Day to everybody! I understand the Texas legislature wants to make that an official state holiday.
