i know
but i forget
and then it's backspace
right click
open link in new tab
and by then the freshness of the link is gone
you'd be amazed at how short my attention span can be
when i'm trying to browse through links at work

Aside from middle-click or ctrl-click
Another fun way to open in a new tab in Firefox, which I use whenever I'm feeling mouse averse, is to do the following.
First, type the single quote key ('). Then type the text of the link you want to search. The quote key will enter you into a link find mode, and will search beginning from the top of the page for a hyperlink with the text you are typing. As soon as the link you want to navigate to is highlighted, press Ctrl-Enter.
This sounds slow, but it's actually a lot faster than using the mouse if you are a fast typer and your hands are hovering over the keyboard instead of the mouse.

Firefox + Middle Mouse for Links
equals the win.

Wasn't there a poll on this like 2 years ago?
It's like De ja vu all over again.

yes there was
i think the consensus at that point was that for people who used tabbed browsing, it was great, but for people who still don't use it, it was annoying. but really, at this point, why wouldn't you use tabbed browsing? i mean, even microsoft (that bastion of anti-innovation) FINALLY made it a feature of internet explorer.

Hold down Ctrl
Holding down Ctrl when clicking on a link opens the destination in a new tab/window for most browsers. That way you don't have to mess with right click menus.

You and Boddicker
are both on another level of browsing ability than I am.

The problem
Thanks for the feedback. The problem with making new windows/tabs with each link is twofold:
- There's nothing people who don't want new windows/tabs can do if we make every link pop to new. But for those who prefer new windows, they can right click or whatever. Not ideal for everyone, I know.
- It requires Andrew and I to remember to throw in the extra code to the HTML. Problematic, given our carelessness half the time.
No great solution here, other than to do what Wells did - get on some meds to help remember to right click!

On a side note
I send ya'll an email a month or two ago about the favorites bar icon, never got a response. Just need to add like one or two lines of code to the main page and it sets it for every page, adds a nice touch imo.
If you still want it, its here:
