Early Friday Games: Picks and Open Thread
I’m off to Vegas for the rest of the weekend’s action, but the coverage of the tournament will continue uninterrupted here at BON. Before today’s picks, a review of the tournament’s first day, during which I bested AW against the spread on day one for the third year in a row. Don’t be fooled: this happens every year. AW comes limping out of the gate, I start with a flourish, and by the time the second round is complete I’ve totally fallen apart and Andrew’s ahead. On straight up and over/under picks, AW’s already got the lead:
AGAINST THE SPREAD: PB [10-6] / AW [7-9]
STRAIGHT UP: PB [12-4] / AW [13-3]
OVER/UNDER: PB [9-6-1] / AW [10-5-1]
On to today’s morning games...

Davidson game
Davidson is down by a few baskets early, but this team looks really solid. Stephan Curry looks like one of the nation's best pure shooters. This is my first time to see them live and I'm impressed by their play on both ends.
This team could get to the Sweet 16 if Georgetown doesn't play their best (assuming GU wins today).

Spoke too soon
They are in danger of being blown out now. I guess Mark Few's coaching experience will have a bigger impact in this one than what I thought.

Morning Thoughts
Go American. 40 all, under 12 left with Tennessee. This is shaping into the second best game of the tournament.
Western Kenucky in good shape to be the second double digit seed to advance.
Miami and St. Mary's good close game.
Zags starting to pull away in Raleigh.

Stephan Curry is ridiculously good - 6:00 left
He singlehandedly kept them in this game. Davidson vs Gonzaga could end up being the game of the day. There are about 6:00 left if you want to catch the end of it on CBS on Demand.

WE'RE GOING DOWN, SOS!
That's the message my bracket just relayed to me.
I had Gonzaga winning. It's ridiculous that the committee would reward a freaking 10 seed by giving them home court! Total bullshit.
I had St. Mary's winning, and that game became the Jack McClinton show. 38 points on 12-18 shooting, 3-5 threes, 11-11 FTs. Good news is he's a 6'1" guard. If a big guy went off like that, I would be extremely nervous. We need to release the Mase on him.
I had Drake winning also. What else can you say? Crazy game.
The good news is I still haven't lost a Sweet 16 team yet. Bad news is in the first 4 games today, I am 1-3.

Second set of games
G'town starting to pull away. Up 12 at half.
Texas rolling over Austin Peay.
Doesn't look like these two #2 seeds are going to struggle like Tennessee and Duke did.
UConn and San Diego are close through 12 minutes. I've got points in this game. Keep it close.
Butler up 17 pts at half over S. Alabama in Birmingham. I fully expect Butler to give Tenn all they can handle in round two.

Oh shit
AJ Price just suffered a knee injury against San Diego, and UConn is losing. I had UConn in the Elite 8, shocking UCLA in the Sweet 16. This is bad news for me.
