In other news...
my bracket just died.
Services will be held down at Moe's Tavern...in lieu of flowers please buy me a shot.
Beer, you're just not helping...switching to guns.
Check back in later...maybe.
It's a full moon; you'll have plenty of company.
Today will be incredibly interesting and you might wind up better than you estimated.
Nope, San Diego just clinched it.
It's a total loss.
JAMES
Damn dude, feel free to tear the rim down at the END of the game. I don't need any delays here. Then I'd feel guilty for skipping class for this.

Working from home is awesome
Horns rocking it early.
Excellent start
9-0. This is what we need.
by goingforthecorner on Mar 21, 2008 2:18 PM CDT reply actions
9-0 Horns, timeout APU
Nice start. Governors can't hit and we're getting out in transition and moving the ball well in the halfcourt. AJ with 5 early points. Love it.
not complaining, but feels like atchley
has gone a bit cold lately from the 3pt line.
Not a big deal, especially today; would like to see him hit a couple, though.
just needed to metion him...
I'll take the inside action, too ;)
Online Watching
First time watching streaming video...every 10-12 seconds my picture freezes, then fast forwards to live action. Real annoying. Is this normal?
Re:
Texas is not a popular team in Little Rock, Arkansas. You think?
Pittman in and contributing
Talk about a size advantage. This must feel like middle school ball for Sexy Dex.
Horns up 19-3. Another timeout by APU.
James = matchup nightmare
We need to feed him in the LOW POST. Tired of the jumpers. If we get jumpers, it better be from an inside-out game.
Pittman in the game and just scored. Great that he's playing. I was thinking that since their team is so small, they would play fast, so Dexy couldn't get minutes.

Texas up 19-3, under 12 timeout
For one of the first times all year, Texas stays in man defense with Dex in the game.
GJ
No GJ...problematic in the long run?
Pittman just picked up
the ball with one hand off the floor. Not from below the ball. He just palmed it. Wow.
Texas dominated on the off glass. 25-8.
Big paws at work
I liked Dex picking the ball off the floor with one hand. Just pickin' up apples.
We need to post up Connor
but then again, how many post moves does he have?
Connor improved so much this year, but in the upcoming offseason, that's what he needs to focus on - his post-up game. He should be in the paint practicing hooks/fade aways/layups. He needs Wright to help him get stronger.

LOL nice commentator
"The 'Lets Go Peay!' chants have been flushed away"

25-10 Texas, under 8
Just missed a highlight dunk from DJ to James. That would have been something if DaMo had been able to throw it down.
Longhorns have a tremendous advantage in size and talent. I'd like to see them play sharply though. Don't just go through the motions. Keep running our offense, lock down on D, and stayed focused.
This one could get sloopy very easily.
Connor
Atchley gunshy from 3.
Am I The Predator?
My online feed looks like I'm watching it on an infrared camera. Anyone else have this problem?
Yep.
It's bizzare. Plugin may be jacked..dunno
The Chess Game
Would you suspect that Rick is dictating future coverage? I mean, the Horns could just dump inside to the big guys the rest of the game, no problemo.
No
Just letting the boys play. When AJ is on, his teammates look for him more often. I don't think Miami or Stanford would change their designed defenses based on this game.
Yeah, maybe I'm trying to see deeper
when there's really no reason, too.
Texas 32-14, under four timeout
AJ really on today. Good sign.
I'd like to see some additional early min for Dex, Wingman, and Chap. Get them in now. We're gonna need there help later if Gary can't come back on Sunday or even later.
Dex
Pittman defending 25 feet from the basket. Hilarious.
ROTFLMAO DEXTER
Playing with a freaking child.

Hahah...
Pittman: All your balls are belong to us.

It's nice getting the video feed immediately whenever you want (especially when Gumbel and CBS decide to take you away to another game).
Consider
how well we've played, and Butler has a bigger lead on So. Alabama at the half. Interesting.
Good first half, though. After the Duke and Tennessee debacles, a 2 seed should take nothing for granted.
That Coors light commercial was hilarious
and so true. LETS VENT!
by goingforthecorner on Mar 21, 2008 3:02 PM CDT reply actions
At half, Texas leads 39-24
This seems unfair. Texas is just way to big and too athletic for the Governors. It would have been even worse if APU hadn't hit a few threes to end the half.
Again, Texas needs to play another half of focused basketball. I will be disappointed if we win by 18 but play sloppy ball in the second half.
Pittman game Barnes some nice minutes off the bench. I want to see similar contributions from Chap and Wingman.
DJ is actually a little off with his shot but is distributing the ball nicely. AJ and Damion also with strong halves. And Mason is just being Mason.
what annoys you guys more..
atchley missing wide open 3's or atchley trying to tip balls in at least 10 foot away??
Considering the size advantage
A 22-16 rebounding margin is not that impressive.
In a game where our big men should be dominating, Connor has jacked up 3 threes. He's always going to be a finesse scorer, but he should still be able to score in the paint. Hopefully someone like a Chris Mihm can come over in the summer and help him out with his inside game.
by goingforthecorner on Mar 21, 2008 3:07 PM CDT reply actions
Yes rebounding is still the issue for the horns..
if we are going to be a serious contender in this tournament, we cannot give up offensive rebounds. Texas seems to give up on long rebounds....
Mason
has gained a tremendous amount of confidence with his jumper over the last few games.
James with back to back fouls. No good.
Texas leads 51-29, under 16
Longhorns on cruise conrol. DJ playing very calmly and confidently, Mason has found his jumper, and Dex giving us great minutes off the bench.
Keep playing at a high level and give those starters some rest with about eight to go.
Barnes
I don't think Rick has stood up all game. Just letting the Longhorns play.
Nice dish DJ to Connor for three.
Mason
should play a bigger role on offense. His athleticism is underrated. The opposing teams focuses on DJ, AJ, and James. This should allow Mason to get open looks to drive, especially if Connor makes his threes, forcing the big men outside of the paint.
Mase, DJ, AJ, James are all capable of penetrating.
by goingforthecorner on Mar 21, 2008 3:42 PM CDT reply actions
Another great play by Mason
Penetrates, then dishes to Wingman and will get FTs.
by goingforthecorner on Mar 21, 2008 3:43 PM CDT reply actions
i know it probably isnt anything to be concerned
about, but could someone fill me in on Abrams arm? He was nursing it a bit a minute ago.
Just hit a three
don't think it's too bad
by goingforthecorner on Mar 21, 2008 3:45 PM CDT up reply actions
Total Domination
This one was done early. Great job by the Horns keeping the crowd off their feet.
61-36, under 12.
One more solid four minute stretch and I'd like to see some subs.
I really hope Barnes
rests the players especially DJ unlike in the OU game. I want some Mooney and Smith.
by goingforthecorner on Mar 21, 2008 3:49 PM CDT reply actions
Subs
Augustin already out of the game. Will he even return?
Great charge Mason
now lets send you and AJ to the bench.
by goingforthecorner on Mar 21, 2008 3:50 PM CDT reply actions
mason is almost like ron artest....
tough physically, a great defender, and can score some too!!1
Except for being a psycho
and going into the stands to fight fans, asking for time off to promote a rap album, etc.
by goingforthecorner on Mar 21, 2008 3:53 PM CDT up reply actions
Mason
Mason won't be benched; with Augustin out, Mason becomes their primary ballhandler.
Dex looks good...i hope he can be our hidden
weapon during the tournament...DJ and abrams should feed the ball to dex and let him go to work...
What's up with Dogus?
Anyone knows how he's doing? I know he's not going to play this year because we don't want to waste a year out of him. But is he ready to play basketball or still rehabbing? Does he even practice with the team?
by goingforthecorner on Mar 21, 2008 3:52 PM CDT reply actions
Don't know
He still had a slight limp the last couple of times I saw him near the bench in Austin.
Texas up 68-42, under 8
Dex with back to back turnovers.
Rick finally stands up with DJ out of the game.
Gary Johnson...
Does anyone know the extent to Gary's injury and if he will be able to play at all if we advance?
Ugh... why is DJ back in
Looks like he might have just tweaked something too.
by goingforthecorner on Mar 21, 2008 3:58 PM CDT reply actions
Augustin is the worst 80% FT shooter
I've ever seen.
I love him but he should almost never miss free throws. His stroke is too good for the number of bricks he throws up.
Mason
does need to work on his passing when he is penetrating. That's at least twice where he's thrown passes behind him with no sense of accuracy while driving.
by goingforthecorner on Mar 21, 2008 4:01 PM CDT reply actions
We're playing very sloppy now
ok, seriously
the backups won't play as bad as the starters are right now.
Does Barnes hate Smith?
Why does he never get playing time in these situations? Who cares if he sucks? There's no need for DJ and AJ to be on the court at this time.
I'm going to guess that Smith is a horrible defender and/or has a low basketball IQ, and with Barnes philosophy, you have to earn your playing time.
And yet JD Lewis has somehow gotten playing time, probably because of his seniority. That's the Mack Brown in him.
by goingforthecorner on Mar 21, 2008 4:05 PM CDT reply actions
Re:
Lewis can handle the ball (sort of). Smith can...score. During garbage time, you'd pick the former over the latter.
With that said, there's no reason why any of the starters should be out on the court at this time. Save them for Sunday. Come on, Rick, use your head.
Dammit!
That 3 could've been a JD Lewis airball.
Another huge upset in the making
UConn lost their starting PG Price, so #13 San Diego has a great chance to pull off the upset.
How about this? The 2nd round could feature #12 Western Kentucky vs #13 San Diego. This guarantees a double digit seeded team in the Sweet 16.
by goingforthecorner on Mar 21, 2008 4:11 PM CDT reply actions
Sucks for him, but more interesting games
I kind of had a feeling today might be the upset day since yesterday was so quiet.
Rumor killer
We're not playing Round Two in the Cotton Bowl. But a 46-3 win to advance to Houston would be nice.
That particular revenge
will have to wait for the football field...and we're waiting patiently for that day.
Blarg
The dude who lost his contacts, why don't they just take him out so they can resume the game?
by goingforthecorner on Mar 21, 2008 4:13 PM CDT reply actions
nvmd
had to shoot FTs. He'll be replaced anyway.
by goingforthecorner on Mar 21, 2008 4:13 PM CDT up reply actions
Eagle just explained why...
...but in basketball you are entitled to take as long as you need to fix a contact lense. There is never an obligation to call a timeout or make a substitution.
With the game all but done, they decided to simply sub for him and have him ineligible for the final 2 minutes.
Wow
That might've been the first time I've seen Harrison Smith pass up a shot all season.
GG
Now let's blow by the Hurricanes on Sunday.
Mason will be the key on Sunday
He must contain McClinton.
by goingforthecorner on Mar 21, 2008 4:17 PM CDT reply actions
I will say as I have said all season..
Justin Mason is pretty much key in every game. No one out-hustles him. His offense is shaping up nicely if he could just get the passes a little more on target.. We are just too used to seeing DJ make those types of passes that Mason's missing.
by LadyLonghorninOK on Mar 21, 2008 4:20 PM CDT up reply actions
I feel the same way
His intensity is one of the BIG reasons we had a shot at winning that Big XII Championship game. His defensive play is so overlooked. The media likes to call him the "glue man", but they really have no idea or they would give him more credit than that.
It's not obvious is it?
That J. Mason is my favorite player is it?? The rest are great but remember when Barnes benched him? What happened? Think of the chemistry these five have together.. JM is the one that pulls it all together. I watched him last year all year long doing the same thing, this year he is much better and I feel he is very overlooked by most..
by LadyLonghorninOK on Mar 21, 2008 7:09 PM CDT up reply actions
Didnt think so..
:) Whatever happened to those guys who were hollering to revoke his scholarship?? lol
by LadyLonghorninOK on Mar 21, 2008 10:10 PM CDT up reply actions
Horns win 74-54
This one was never close and was a good start to the tourney. Nice win.
AJ, Dex, and Damion dominated on offense.
question
when is the game on sunday??
P.S. I think Austin Peay really DID have that teen wolf guy on their squad!! He must have been holding back.
