something tells me that was a catlab production
Dinosaurs, basketball, and DJ riding on the back of a pterodactyl?
Now I'm pumped!
OK.. that got me going..
Let's go Horns!!!!

18-9 Texas early
We look good on the Defensive end and were hitting our shots from 3. Miami started out in a zone and have since switched.
Pittman in
and makes a mental error saving a Miami airball. Hopefully, that's his last mistake for the day.
Mason
his shot is looking good
Great start.
Hot shooting. Good defense. Only thing that worries me is that Miami is getting plenty of 2nd looks.
26-14 Texas 10:56 left in the 1st.
We're shooting great and defending really well from the guards. We did lose something down low when Dex came in and I would like to think we can rotate Wing or Chappy in if Dex isn't having a great game.
I guess Gary won't be in action today. He would be killing Miami right now.
on the radio..
they said that johnson was warming up and was "maybe probable." Sounds alot like media doublespeak to me.
nice to see
the offense from Mason. Great player even if he never scored again. Looks like Miami is susceptible to turnovers.
Lets' keep running with them.
DJ and AJ will find the open shooter in transition when they can't keep up.
We're pulling a Pacman Jones on Thug U
Make it rain baby.

is it?
I kinda felt like they got some open looks at 3's that McClinton knocked down when we went zone. They were long shots, but he hit them. Anyway, we'll see what transpires....
I think were disrupting their
passes to their big men they were doing to start off the game. We're cutting that off forcing them to take more outside shots.
So far so good.
DJ and Texas are disecting the Canes D. 3 pointers are falling. Atch with 12 already. We look like we might roll.
anyone else
listening to westwood one's coverage on mmod???
these guys are hiliraous.....dj abrams

On fire
Its games like this where I wish they would skip halftime and keep playing. The break tends to take away momentum.
Justin Mason.......
Are you kidding me? Unbelievable hustle!
Why is Pittman
coming out to the 3 pt. line to guard their big man. Then he gets taken to the hoop.
Hope we don't end up...
... with another Henry Melton. Dexter running around and shooting floaters... gag.
Kidding, of course.
I agree
Can't complain too much. The shooting has been great, and the D has been solid. I guess my only complaint would be that we have only drawn three or four fouls on them, and we have no free throws. If the three's stop dropping in the next half, we have to be able to adjust.
main negatives to me
are the turnovers and fouls. They shot 8 free throws to none for us.
Over all, though, they're shooting only 35%, which is always a good sign. I'll take an 11 point half time lead. Let's just keep it up and not let is slip away early in the second half.
McClinton
pay more attention to him in the 2nd half. That's when he went off in the St. Mary's game. 32 pts in the 2nd half.

I still ant to see Dexy
Wing and Chap have a great game. Our front court reserves need a good game on the D end.
3pt Shooting at halftime
Texas 9/15 60%
Abrams 4/6
Atchley 2/4
Augustin 1/3
James 1/1
Mason 1/1
Texas did not shoot a single free throw
Let's be thankful for what we have...
I went over the the Miami SB Nation site and found no open game thread or live blogging.
No knock on the site or anything, just really, really thankful to be a Horn and have BON on gameday.
nice pass by mason to atchley
You're Right
I think Connor is easily the MIP for Texas, but I think it's an easy argument that he is the MIP nationally as well.
Hard to believe we're that good
on the fundamentals on the D side but on O we miss the fundamentals like FT's. We're probably better from 3 than than the line.
Conner with a moving screen
usually picks up one a game so no big deal. Horns lead by 13 and the only thing I can complain about is a few turnovers and FT attempts/makes.
If we keep up the pressure on D we should coast here.
Miami is bad...
I'll be disappointed if we let this get any closer.
after watching these first two rounds so far
into this second half, who else would love to see a texas-georgetown matchup?
I know the refs are letting them play
but how the hell was that not a foul on James?
AJ for three! L
Getting a little sloppy
I wouldn't mind seeing big Dexy in (here he comes as I'm typing) to slow it down and work it inside.
I don't see any limp from Johnson
"He's not human!"

Dex still isn't posting up correctly for the
inbound pass. He has a smaller defender on him which should allow him to find his spot and plant for the incoming pass but he keeps getting denied.
DJ to the line for the first time today
I expect to see a lot more of that as the game winds down and he takes control of it.
Miami looks sloooow....
I missed first half, but UM looks slower than AP. If we hang on here, I don't this team is going to be intimidated by the Stanford twins
Dex
makes about 3 of AJ.... we were rolling...

AJ helping Dex up
Anyone else notice that? Was pretty amusing seeing AJ struggling to get up the big boy.
that foul on the air ball
must really be frustrating. Its in Texas favor, but I dont like those kinda calls
Holy crap, 17 offensive boards
this is awesome, but I have a feeling that won't happen against Stanford.

Piggie Fans
I love the complex of Arkansas fans that they feel compelled to do their stupid chant as if it will actually have an effect on the outcome of this game.
It's all they have.
Practice for next year. And about the same effect.
I hope our shooters can replicate today's effort.
That's what the Horns will need.
We'll need it.
Even with the crowd, it won't be a big day for offensive rebounds. But a good crowd will help for sure.
I thought they were fairly good.
But AW and PB would be more astute sources, and I'm sure they'll get into the gory details.
Regarding the Lopez twins...
I think you might see some interesting defenses on them..Connor with Pittman, Gary and DaJa, plus some interesting zone variations.
I was not impressed with them the other night
but that was the only game I've seen of them this year. But hey, I choose the Irish over Wa St. cause I don't respect the Pac-10 in sports so what do I know.
That was the first I'd watched them, too.
I thought they were a patient and smart team overall although there was a tendency to wait too long on offense. It worked for them, but one extra guard at a crucial point might hurt them.
I saw several people who liked to take the final shot and that is a valuable asset.
Side Bar:
I love Apple products but their music for the commercials make me want to claw my eyes out.
Plenty of time for a run
Going to have to have hit some FTs down the stretch. I don't want to see a repeat of the Baylor game.
I see no drop in intensity
just continued execution of the end game strategy.
Its not over yet...
Remember Baylor? Can't turn it over and need to hit our free throws.
Ugh
Running clock killed our flow slowly. Now we have none and they do. Our free-throw shooting makes me anxious.
by CyHorn770 on Mar 23, 2008 3:13 PM CDT reply actions
I don't mind this.
If you're a championship quality team, you must be successful in these situations. The more practice, the better.
Great defensive play. You gotta make the play.
McClinton is going ape-shit on us
please make your FTs.
Connor... no!
But great defensive pressure on McClinton.
Connor... redeem yourself!

Miami will have some good things
to take away from this, FT shooting late being one of them.
Player of the Game
CBS just gave it to AJ for his 22 points, but I'd have to go with Damion and his great all around numbers and 17 boards.
You have got to be kidding me...
A one possession game? We did not close out this game like we should have.
We fouled too much down the stretch, and we missed way too many FTs
why does AJ pass there?
Why not just dribble the ball all the way down? I don't understand why you pass to a poor(er) free throw shooter.
Our late game collapse
will prevent us from covering the spread.
I'd like to see Lewis out there assuming he's a good FT shooter.
I don't understand how you leave anyone open from three. It's obvious they're trying to comeback via threes.

1.5 Left
Look for the opp. to throw it down court on the OOB pass.
by CyHorn770 on Mar 23, 2008 3:26 PM CDT reply actions
1.7 seconds left?
We have the ball? Everybody take a deep breath and in one more play it will be over and we'll be going to Houston.
Least this gives AW something to write about
maybe a comparison of the Baylor game (shudder) and this one to see what we are doing wrong in the final few minutes? Maybe some charts or something cool?
I like pictures...
I would just hoist to our side of the basket
Put all our guys there to at least make contact with the ball. They have no timeouts

Battle tested
I'll take a close win. Especially considering what Stanford played yesterday. We need to get experience with crunch time in March.
Survival means something.
No matter how we manage it.
Miami played well at the end; Haith learned well from Rick.
I think we played poorly.
Miami hit some tough shots, but if we were not 50% from the line, this never gets that close.
I do credit Miami's fantastic free-throw shooting. Their FF shooting is definitely on my wish list for the Horns. Impressive.

Did everyone see that fat
piggie fan giving the upside down hook em...oh yes your blue collar jealousy feels so good. Like Scott Tenerman's tears.
Notice the Bulter game has played out the same
way. The nature of the day.
We play a more complete game
When it's close throughout. When we play our half-court offense trying to score it's a hell of a lot different than our half-court offense trying to run the clock.
This wasn't a confidence booster. Let's hope it was a wake-up call.
DJ is probably super pissed with himself. That could be good.
by CyHorn770 on Mar 23, 2008 3:32 PM CDT reply actions
That crowd
was Anti -Texas as well. Houston is going to Burnt Orange and rocking...We WILL step up next week!
we play not to lose
Rather than to win. We start running the shot clock with 12 minutes left in the game, which leads to bad shots. Just keep playing aggressively. It was obvious we were the vastly superior team.
by ltrain4 on Mar 23, 2008 3:35 PM CDT reply actions
Clock Offense
Whenever we run our clock killing offense, it seems like we just twiddle our thumbs until there are 8 seconds left and then it's too late and we end up jacking up a desperation shot. Maybe we should start setting up a play with more like 15 seconds left on the clock instead. We don't have to bring the clock all the way to zero before we shoot.
Aggression.
I've never favored that maneuver, whether football or basketball. If you start too early, it does kill the aggression and makes the team so vulnerable to turnovers and losing big Mo.
Under three minutes, that's OK. Five minutes on out (in basketball; 10 minutes in football), forget it.
And keeping an eye on Gtown and Tenn games, we might be very lucky to have survived.
Holy crap
About 10-15 minutes from now, we could be the only 2 seed alive!

Kansas Clear Path to Final 4?
Does Kansas have the cleanest/easiest path to the Final 4 of any remaining teams?
It has become clearer
There are no guarantees with Kansas, but with no 2,4 or 5 remaining they have caught some breaks. I wasnt a real big believer in Georgetown cause I think Hibbert is soft and he would be effective at all if he wasnt 7'2". Wisconsin is scary good and their defense is always superb. Most Kansas fans just wait for the other shoe to drop just like it always seem to do this time of year.
let our foot of the gas at the wrong time
Even the broadcast switched on us to watch a more competitive game. We just tried to coast the rest of the way and a quiet crowd was putting the team to sleep and taking away their focus.
Good win
"the other UTs" still in it at #2 seed. Our game was too close for comfort. We had them going really early and were up double digits, very commanding, and then decided to sleep walk through till the end coming out only 3 points on top which is too close for comfort. We should have kept the commanding lead to strike fear into Stanford. Course, if they only watched the last part of the game and think they've got it made, that could work in our favor... Onward to Houston! Hook'em
WE'RE GOING TO HOUSTON!
Glad to get out of that shit hole in Arky.
What's unfortunate about our end game collapse is that it will completely overshadow how we DOMINATED them with our great defense and perimeter shooting.
I agree that we need to play the same type of game for 40 minutes. I don't want to see Texas basketball for 35 minutes and then draining the shot clock for the last five. We could drain maybe 15 seconds and then run the offense.
Man WTF happened to DJ in that airball? Hopefully that's the last time I see that.

It happens...
I've had the exact same thing happen to me from the line; late during a closely contested, physical game. Announcers talk about "tired legs", but sometimes everything goes dead. That's what it felt like to me anyway.
I was impressed that he stepped up and hit the next one after such an embarrassing display on the first.
