Elite Eight Open Thread
Two more teams end their seasons tonight. Two head to San Antonio.
UCLA vs. Xavier - Will the Muskateers have an answer for Kevin Love? It's literally been months since anyone has. On the flipside, UCLA will need to flex its defensive muscle to manage an underrated Xavier offense. Prediction: UCLA 71 Xavier 68
North Carolina vs. Louisville - The two best teams left in the tournament? You could make the argument based on what we've seen so far. As captivating a match up as we've seen in this tournament thus far. Prediction: North Carolina 77 Louisville 75

Entertaining game so far
I expected UCLA to come out strong. Xavier has done a good job of rebounding and playing decent D. That's the only reason they are in the game right now.
That steal Westbrook made early as he anticipated the wing-to-post pass, was ridiculous.
If you aren't watching this game, do yourself a favor and turn it on.

UCLA game
was just plain Boring. Actually napped during second half.
What the hell are we going to do against Memphis tomorrow? Nailbiter or embarrassing blowout?

Honestly...
...I'd be happy with a nailbiter or an embarrassing blowout...as long as we come out on top. Right? Yes...of course I'm right.

Run and shoot
Should be much like a Kansas game. As long as we can run with them and shoot reasonably well the Horns should be in the game. The key comes in the last four minutes, whoever is hitting the shots.
I don't see this as anything complex, although I'm sure some will. Either we can stay with them early or we can't.
If it comes down to free throws, it could be a pox on both our houses. First one to 60% wins.

Disappointing game
I really thought it was going to be closer. The cream is still rising to the top I guess. So many blowouts.
As far as Memphis goes, I see them as a Kansas-type team that doesn't shoot the 3 as well. If we can nearly win a game against a Kansas team that had their best offensive outing on, what was essentially, their home court, then we can beat Memphis on, what is essentially, our home court.
I still hold to what I said before the Stanford game. The confidence we have coming out of the Stanford win will carry over and we will beat Memphis by double digits.
I just hope the crowd is louder this time. I know the acoustics aren't near as good as a basketball gym, but the last game was pretty sad. We need more students at the game.

He whose name should not be spoken
had a good game with 19 points and 5 assists. Offensive rebounds were the only thing that kept this from being a perfect game. Hope we get to face Texas in the Final Four!
Anyone have reasonably-priced tickets for the Final Four? :)

Game time tomorrow?
What time does Texas vs. Memphis tip tomorrow?
I have an early tee-time at Mo Willy and want to make sure I'm home in time to watch the game.

1:20 CST
About the same time as the Kansas game a few weeks ago. I hope we come out with the same intensity as we showed against KU.

Quickly turning into a classic
Louisville has done a nice job in the second half of limiting Carolina's fast break opportunities on one end and of running their sets to creat high percentage looks on the other end.
If the Cardinals can keep Carolina off the offensive glass, they may steal one in Charlotte.

really wish that kansas would play first....
tomorrow. history has that never have 4 1-seeds played in the final four. if kansas wins (as they should) history favors us to beat memphis.
but of course, relying on this sort of logic will probably ultimately fail us.

No matter what happens, win or lose...
I want to see a closely contested game. I'm sick of all of these blowouts. I will be proud of our team no matter the outcome. They can only overachieve from here on out, in my opinion.

Agree with UTAth
We are in total overachievement mode starting from the Stanford win. Just playing a good game against them satisfied me, and then we blew them out at the end.
Even playing in Houston, I don't expect to win, but I'm cautiously optimistic. Just playing a competitive game would be fine with me.
Because of their superior depth, one of the big keys is to try to get their starters into foul trouble. Miss. St. did a nice job of doing that, and played a very competitive game with them.
