There's classiness and then there's the A&M/Baylor game
I think Baylor heavily regrets having its souvenir basketball night against the Aggies. It's becoming clear that both schools hate each other. Looking forward to their games next year. Maybe they'll play again in the tournament.

Where to start? Well first you can browse around their respective forums. Baylorfans and Texags.
Joseph Jones set a vicious screen on Tweety Carter, similar to Davis' screen against DJ. Words were exchanged between benches. Diene of Baylor was called for a technical for getting into it with an A&M assistant coach. Those souvenir basketballs were thrown onto the court. Apparently Jones said "That's right mother fucker stay down!" Also there were A&M players celebrating that screen while Carter was still sprawled on the floor.
A Dr. Pepper bottle was thrown onto the court. But Scott Drew says don't be quick to judge; it could've been an Aggie throwing it.
Here's a good one. Two A&M fans were wrongly accused of chunking one of those balls onto the court. They were scolded at by some old guy and were escorted out of the game. Here's a pic.
Here's my favorite one. With the game already sealed and the clock winding down to zeros, Donald Sloan decides to do an off-the-backboard dunk. Nice job Sloan. Nothing says cool quite like a meaningless dunk to stop the clock. And of course more basketballs were thrown on the court as a result of this. Doesn't matter though, it was awesome according to the Aggies.
I'm sure I'm missing other incidents, but I think you get the picture here.

Typical.
I wouldn't expect anything else from either schools.

Even though...
...the dunk was the most classless act I've seen in sports for a while, but I'm honestly not even surprised. Just the type of stuff you expect from Texas A&M.

While I'm a Texas fan
and thus believe that the world revolves around our school, I couldn't be happier that A&M has fallen (risen?) to the the point where Baylor is their biggest rival.

Wow...That's Awesome
I mean, Meekrob is right. How pathetic is it to revel in the defeat of your most capable rival: Baylor. If I was a Baylor fan I'd be opening the doors to atheism. If I was an Aggie fan I'd be looking up Kevorkian.
Fortunately, as a Horns fan I can look at all this and think: enjoy your NIT tournament, ladies!

It was a pathetic finish
Notice the hand-holding in the photo, I think they might me getting a scolding about how God did not intend for Aggies to love each other quite so much.
The announcers kept saying that the backcourt screen was legal, but it looked to me like Jones put his arm/shoulder into it a little bit. It was tough to tell, but the Bears had a reason to be upset.
The Aggies are such fucking thugs. I'm glad Scott Drew has made Baylor a force in the conference and they can be the Aggies chief rival. Despite the ass whooping they gave us in B/CS they sure as hell aren't our rivals.

Unfortunately, I watched most of that ugly excuse
for a basketball game. I thought the "screen" set by cro-magnon Jones was a purely intentional act of thuggery. He sure as hell put his shoulder into it. What can you say about those agrics other than that they're pathetic.

Pretty much sums it up: they're pathetic
though I wouldn't hesitate to add: ..., and they rape sheep.
and really Jones is totally cro-mag, the team would find victory in every game if they put someone down like that. Jones is just bitter A&M regressed this year. And Turgeon letting that shit go on is even more pathetic. Boooo, hissss.

so
the only "classless" thing A&M did was the dunk? Well and possible football throwing. Although I don't know why an aggie would have a baylor senior night football....as sloan was going for that dunk, I was like "don't do it" and he did it. Not the best call. Pretty intense game. Bodies were flying the whole game.

I think the purported
"Thats right mother fucker stay down", over an opponent who hasn't yet gotten up could be construed by some to be a classless act.

Although the circumstances were different...
I'm afraid that Travis Johnson subscribes to a different theory.

Not defending Travis Johnson...
but unlike Jones, Johnson's career could've been ended from Trent Green's chop block.

Completely agree
Which is why I linked to those specific blog posts. Still, I just can't pass up an opportunity to revisit TJ's "God don't like ugly" moment.

nothing about Boddicker is clutch
Although I don't know for sure, I think it is doubtful that someone from the stands heard a player say "stay down M-Fer." Also, if you look at the video, Jones doesn't utter a word, he runs down the court.
played Boddicker in high school.

The purported utterance
was when he got back to the bench.
Do you have a link to the video, I have not seen it yet.

Thanks
While it might have been a moving pick, it did not look like he was trying to hurt the guy. His teammate needed to let him know a pick was coming.

Couple of things.
- I made no comment about whether it happened or not, just pointing out that of the things mentioned in the original post, that was another one that most people would consider classless.
In case you need - Purported
- Boddicker was and is clutch. I watched him ice plenty of games from beyond the arch. If your argument is Boddicker was not a good basketball player, or that he was a soft inside player, he was a terrible ball handler, or he didn't know what the word defense means, I'll listen to your argument. But clutch, was definitely something he was. Next you will say something equally ridiculous and irrelevant like his hair was unkempt in middle school.
- No one cares what the Bod did in high school, and if I don't care what Brian did in high school, I care even less about what you did in high school.
- Attacking screen names is cool, and has a lot to do with the content of someones post. Its important to remember that when you have no grounds to refute or in your case comprehend what someone is saying, make sure to attack instead the person, or the most personal thing you know about the person, which in this case would be my screen name. It distracts the readers from the actual topics at hand, which is to your benefit.
- For someone who is purportedly (see above) a man child, you shouldn't throw stones until you get rid of that glass house.

Boddicker was the team enforcer and his hair was Jimmy Johnson-esque.
But of course, you know this.

The video doesn't show it
Someone said exactly what you said:
"Watching the video, it actually looks like jones didn't say anything to him when he was down on the floor."
The original poster replied:
"He said it while he was high fiving his teammates at the a&m bench when there was a timeout for the injury."

the color analyst
I saw him on an interview on Espn and he said he has never been afraid of his safety like that from a crowd. That kind of thing has no place in collegiate athletics

cheese with you whine, anyone?
Wow.
I'm actually surprised at the amount of whining going in on this thread.
First, the Jones screen: It was clean. He didn't say anything to Carter, that's just been spread around to make the whole incident sound worse. The minute it happened during the game, I knew Jones would be demonized on baylor sites, but I didn't expect it from texas sites, too.
Second, the Sloan dunk: If D.J. Augustin had done it, the video would be permanently fixed to the top of this site, and y'all would still be talking about the play today.
The Baylor 'fans' were spitting on the A&M players as they went back into the locker room after pre-game warm-ups. Sloan said that dunk was his answer to their poor treatment.
Baylor has had two consecutive home games where their fanbase threw objects onto the floor, their athletic director has come out and publically chastized their fanbase, but A&M is the classless ones. Riiiiiiiiiight.
by Beergut on Mar 9, 2008 5:28 PM CDT 0 recs
You are so full of it
I've clearly suggested that BOTH sides were unclassy.
Augustin wouldn't have dunked at the end. You know why? 1) He can't dunk. 2) He has a sense of class and sportsmanship.
I never suggested the screen was dirty. In fact, I compared it to the DJ screen, which was also legal.
Jones DID say that to Carter, and you have nothing to prove otherwise. I got my source from someone WHO WAS AT THE GAME AND SAW HIM SAY IT. Where's your source from?
I'm waiting for you to call all of us racists now.
