Texas Longhorns: Big XII Champions

The #9 Texas Longhorns (26-5, 13-3) outlasted the Oklahoma State Cowboys, 62-57, to win the Big XII championship for the third time in Rick Barnes' ten years in Austin. Texas will be the #1 seed in Kansas City and play the winner of Texas Tech vs. Oklahoma State at 11:30 am on Friday morning.

The game was a grind but the outcome was simply fantastic. Congratulations to Rick Barnes and the Longhorns! Big XII Champs!

I'll get into the post-game review later tonight. Post your comments here.

Ive said it before, and I will say it again.....

JUSTIN MASON NEEDS HIS SCHOLARSHIP REVOKED! I know everyone here at BON loves him, but the guy couldnt hit a free throw if his life depended on it and he dribbles the ball like a 3rd grader... look at his season FG%... its horrendus! He is so hesitant to take a shot, its pathetic. We need to start Gary Johnson and go big, rather than letting this waste of space keep missing the front end of one and one's. I laughed everytime he got the ball today.....

I disagree

This team NEEDS his defensive energy, and when he's running the point it frees up Augustin to get open in other areas of the court.  He's picked up his offensive game considerably since his early-mid season slump.  If he's hesitant to take a shot, who cares, get it the open man or a hot shooter.

Today he had 10 pts, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 1 block.  He was 4/6 from the free throw line, and 2/2 from behind the arc.

Meanwhile, Johnson had 2 pts, 0 rebounds, 1 block, in 15 minutes of play.

I'm not sure how you can justify your position.

are you serious?

i mean, really?

He is one of the scrappiest players in the country right now.  That guy gives us the defensive energy that we need.

He's also a very willing and capable rebounder.

My adopted son Sergio Kindle does not sleep; he waits.

Hmmm

Did we watch the same game? Mason went 4/6 from the line and was a big part of the offensive early with two three-pointers. He is also our best defender and one of the key reasons why this team just won a conference championship.

ummm are you talking about the same guy??

The guy who holds our team together? Justin Mason is one of the hardest working players on the court.  The stat sheet may not show it, but, if you watch Longhorn Basketball then you know that if JayMay is not on the floor, we lose a terrific defender, and all out player.  He scrambles after loose balls, blocks, steals, and now, even hits shots.  I think you must be confusing him with an Aggie player or something.  I admit GJ does need some work on the court, but not at JayMay's expense.  Take him out of the game and see what happens.. we lose #1 defender on the ball and a hell of a lot of hustle.  You are crazy.  enough said.

OU SUCKS!

Uhhh...

So you want to start Johnson over Mason, because Mason can't shoot?  You should probably look at the stats a little closer before ripping into a guy.  Mason barely has a lower FG% than Johnson (.409 to .415) and has a much higher FT% (.672 to .538).

No

I don't think he is dhab. He is probably dhab's younger brother.

Get your ass going! You ain't hurt!

Conference Championships are great

I know a lot of people dont place a lot of value with these, but I love the titles.  Its says your a championship caliber team, and if nothing else you can at least take home a shiny trophy! :D

Now let's win the b12 tourney...and the NCAA tourney!
