Jamarkus McFarland and were he stands
Defensive tackle Jamarkus McFarland has had his list narrowed to three schools for the past several weeks, but the five-star prospect still knows how to keep people guessing. Last weekend, it was again Texas' chance to make its mark when McFarland stopped by the Forty Acres for a visit during the Horns' Orange-White game. What kind of impression did Texas make? We talked to McFarland to get an update.

Typically, these vague answers bug me
But you could not be more accurate. There was positively nothing new from that update.
I'm Worried..
He wants to wait for a game day to see how the atmosphere is. I heard one of the best game day atmosphere is LSU and that is concerning me b/c i don't think almost anybody in the country can top all the hype in a LSU game. Lets hope he goes to a weak game against a scrub team when he visits over there and its not at night!

Not worried
That's not the primary factor in his decision. Mom is seriously on board with Texas. Education seems to be a major factor in the process for him. This is a very start kid and from my understanding is majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Compare Texas v. OU v. LSU. Who wins in that regard? Texas, hands down.
This recruitment will take some time, but we are very much in it for him.
Sounds great
I think Texas is in a lot better position than most thought they would be after his visit. His brother reportedly loved the visit (also his HS coach). At one point he even mentioned the posibility of playing in (burnt) orange. I certainly wouldn't call it a lock, but we are in really good shape.
BTW, think about this D-line:
JaMarkus Farland DT - Insiders think he's a Texas lean (though he is phenomenal at not tipping his hand). #2 player in the COUNTRY!
Devon Kennard DE - There is a chance. #9 player in the COUNTRY!
Alex Okefor DE - Committed to Texas, recruiting others for Texas (great kid). #1 DE in the state of Texas #8 overall.
Calvin Howell DT - HEAVY lean to Texas. Will probably commit this week. #2 DT in the state #16 overall.
That would easily be the sickest D-line in a very long time.
I know....
McFarland said he intended to make his decision on signing day. Has that changed? Why wring your hands over a decision that might not be made for another 10 months?
not worried
but considering how quickly the class is filling up... that's my only worry. how many spots are we going to have on signing day?

Yes, it has
He's recently stated that he will decide sometime in the fall. He wants to attend games of the three leaders (Texas, OU, and LSU) to see the game environment. I doubt he will have a decision made and wait for about 5 months. It's likely that he will commit once he's attended all three games if he hasn't committed already.
