The Other Side of "I'm a Man!" story
Tom Friend presents Bobby Reid's mom feeding him chicken story in Reid's perspective.

In the mist of Gundy going crazy on redbull and steroids, people probably forgot about Bobby Reid and how he felt about the whole situation. Although this article deeply sympathizes with Reid (maybe waaay too much), I think it is worth reading.
He was probably too soft/injury prone to be a good qb. The comparison to Vince is freaking ridiculous. However, this story reaffirms how ridiculous and retarded Gundy really is.

ESPN continues to beat the dead horse....
Seven months later, the tirade of the century still has legs,
.
Ahhh, the delusional, moronic beliefs of ESPN and their so-called reporters! This story didn't have legs 10 minutes after it was first released. Friend is playing the part of a fool by continuing to beat this dead horse. Someone should explain to ESPN just how stupid they appear to the fans of college football.
.
His mother Rajika, a single parent, rode off the field with him on a cart -- store that image away -- and Reid was gone five weeks.
I really wanted Bobby Reid to reconsider his choice and attend UT, but that little quote pretty much sums up the whole 4 years.

Actually, that's not what I got.
When the rant broke, I said here that Gundy was covering his own ass, that he had demoted Reid and didn't want to take the responsibility. The rant was an emotional sucker punch.
The end of the ESPN story is about redemption. Texas Southern, mired in losing season after losing season, and Reid, stung by multiple levels of immaturity, his own and Gundy's, both have a chance to help each other and in so doing, creating not only a memorable season but a future for both Reid, Texas Southern and its new coach. This is the classic football story.
Redemption is always one of the best story lines and virtually always plays a role in mythic hero tales.
BTW I've heard via a strong source that T. Boone just loves Gundy. That says a lot about both of them.

Yer Both Idiots
The whole point of this story is purely to be the medium for me to read - and more importantly catalog for future use the following phrase:
Sweetheart, pump your brakes. It's not what you think it is.

Reid vs VY
The comparison was spot on. In 2003. I was at that 5A Division I championship game in 03, and Reid looked every bit the part of VY in crushing my team (the woodlands). Of course, this is when Vince was still an inconsistent QB. He could always run, but the passing was spotty at best. Reid was the same way, and he looked exactly the same on the field as Vince. He and the rest of that North Shore team looked like men running circles around toddlers. The only reason why the final score was remotely respectable (23-7) was because the two head coaches were good friends. That was a long, cold day at Rice Stadium.
