Judge to Andre Jones: Get a Job

For those who forgot, Andre Jones is a 4 Star DT commit from El Paso who was involved in the famed "Playstation" robbery with Robert Joseph.  Jones appeared before Judge Brenda Kennedy this week to ask the state for financial assistance to aid his cash-strapped defense.   "Dre" needs money to hire an investigator. Judge Kennedy denied his request, and took a hard line against athletes who expect to have everything "given" to them.

"You cannot expect in life (things) to be given (to you) regardless of what kind of talent you have. You’re going to have to work to get some things in life," said Kennedy.

Star-divide

What surprised me most about the KVUE story is that I learned Jones still has his scholarship, is still suspended as opposed to dismissed, and is therefore still part of the football program.  If he is acquitted, should Mack welcome him back?  Or should he yank his scholarship regardless?

Don't know yet because "aquitted", does not mean the same as "innocent". If he is innocent then he deserves another chance, but if he is simply aquitted, it depends on the total of the circumstances.

Just an.....

observation. The "unofficial" legal team of Texas-Exes hasn't rushed to Dre's defense, unlike previous situations involving numerous other UT players. His admission of "I was there," Jones said, "but I did not see no robbery." doesn't work well for him since he previously claimed he was on campus and security camera observations could clear him.

If he takes a job to pay for his defense, then he'll have to give up the scholarship. I don't see anyone coming forward to stop that possibility. I'm quite sure Dre can't count on Robert Joseph to do the honorable thing.

It's not Mack's place

to interfere with the legal process.  Other players have been convicted of DWI's and they were allowed to stay on the team after a suspension.  If he is not convicted in a court of law, Mack should let him come back, albeit with some strict rules to follow.

His claim of not being there, followed by an admission that he was there, but didn't witness anything, doesn't look good.  And quite frankly wasted some of my time.  Can't say that I feel sorry for him at this point.

?

How did that waste your time? Are you representing him in his criminal defense?

If I am elected mayor, my first offical act will be to kill the lot of you and burn your town to cinders

pariah

Send that big fuck back to El Paso where holding .9mms on children and the likes is a city motto.  Only rich people get acquitted of crimes they commit.  This kid is a scar on our program and should be forced to wear the cloak of pariah he's knitted for himself.
