Gregory Gazelles Dominate the Beach

The UT Volleyball duo of Ashley Engle and Kiley Hall won the Collegiate National beach volleyball championship today in San Diego.  The girls took down the NU Cornbots, Jordan Larson and Tara Muller, in the semis and put the beatdown on Talor Carico and Jessica Gysin of USC in the finals 21-8, 21-12.

Congrats to the girls. And yes there is a picture if you click the link....

Congrats to the Gazelles

Should be a nice confidence boost to take out the teams that have given them fits the past few years.

Not the most flattering picture of Ashley tho! Looks like she needs to do a bit of work to get that 6-pack back.

Thanks for the information

I never knew UT had a beach volleyball team. Great and congratulations!

Beach Volleyball Team

I think saying we have a beach volleyball team is a bit of a stretch. We have a court volleyball team that does spring training in the sand. UT only plays one sand event a year and that is this Collegiate Nationals event that CSTV started a few years ago. Nonetheless, it is great that our athletes went out there and competed as well as they did.

It brings added exposure...

... to a program that deserves more of our attention.

Hmm, added exposure. I guess that’s pun intended.

Given that most of the coverage that volleyball gets on the major networks is for beach volleyball, I think it was a smart move by the NCAA to start this tournament – and by Coach Elliot to make sure Texas was a big part of it.

Life is an Occasion. Rise to it.
