I love Nike!

This is great!

Byrne also addressed the Aggies' move last year from Nike to adidas as the department's apparel provider.

He said he met with a Nike representative and requested the same deal as A&M's chief rival, Texas.

Byrne said he was offended when the rep told him, "You're not as good as they are and you're probably never going to be." That statement made Byrne's decision to switch to adidas even easier, he said, in addition to what was a more lucrative deal.

That's pretty funny

That’s pretty funny to read. I am sure it has an element of truth to it. Nike probably simply reminded Byrne that UT was recently the #1 in NCAA merchandizing.

But also, remember that the pour Aggies will typically find a way to play up the drama to hype up other Agros. Or to paint this picture that UT is the evil empire, they must take down.

Either way we win. They’re jealous of our notoriety.

agree

I can’t imagine a nike representative saying those exact words. What that “quote” does is give all the aggies a reason to think that their adidas deal is awesome.

Amen

I think that for Aggies believing is FAR more than seeing.

Anyone..

..else see a relation between the third reich, aggies and adidas?

More than just 10 wins?

Regardless of the veracity of that comment

I don’t think we were going to be using Nike as an apparrel provider again. Our deal with them sucked, quite frankly.

While I am not one to get into name brand wars, b/c frankly I don’t give a shit, I like what I’ve seen of the adidas gear so far, and they’re giving us a helluva lot more money than Nike ever did.

re: adidas

If they were the ones w/ the idea of those grey pants yall donned in last year’s fb season..i, for one, am not impressed (i know it had something to do w/ tradition..but my eyes could’ve done w/o those)

I didn't mind the grey pants

IIRC, we only wore them twice.
