Do guys do THIS all the time?

First there were the allegations that The Rocket aubsed steriods.

Now there is more ugliness, with claims that Roger Clemens had a 10-year affair with country music star Mindy McCready. The nasty part? The affair allegedly began when she was 15 years old.

So is Roger destined to be another black eye for the University's athletic program ... right up there with Ricky's weed habit?

Star-divide

This all came out because of Clemens' defamation lawsuit against his former personal trainer. That's they guy who ratted out Roger's alleged steriod use.

Central to the defamation claim is that he started with a good reputation, which was then ruined by false statements. So the defendant's lawyers want to show that Clemens didn't have a good reputation to start with.

An affair with a 15-year-old would definitely fit the bill - especially since he would have been 28 at the time.

Is this just more mud being slung at one of UT's all-time best athletes? Does he deserve the benefit of the doubt?

I was withholding judgement on the steriods. But now, I'm not so sure. All I can say is ... ICKY.

Btw, Clemens acknowledges a relationship with Mindy. He claims they were just friends.

Wow

By the way, this is why you don’t sue for something like defamation – unless you’ve got nothing you don’t want on the record, you’re better off just letting it go.

This is also why you shouldn’t assume someone’s guilty just because they don’t sue. Going to court for this stuff is messy.

careful

i hate roger as much as anyone out there, but be aware of the source. The New York Daily News isn’t nearly as sensationalist as the NY Post, but it’s not that far above a muck-raking tabloid. This isn’t the new york times or wall street journal here.

Great replies ...

... good point on why you shouldn’t assume guilt because of lack of court action.

As to the source … the source is the defendant’s lawyers. Roger admits the relationship, just characterizes it differently. McCready’s mom confirms a relationship, but refuses to characterize it … makes you wonder why she wouldn’t give a resounding “no!” when confronted with the allegations.

And I’ve never hated Roger before. I’ve always appreciated what he did for UT. If this is true, I will be changing my mind.

I refused to name my children Vince, Kevin or Major ... despite my secret desire to do so.

well, not entirely

roger’s lawyers admit she was a family friend. anonymous sources who are speaking to the NY Daily News are the ones claiming it was an affair.

well, now it's more than just the daily news

today, McCready said that she didn’t deny anything that was in the daily news report. shoulda stayed retired, roger. he’s either lying very convincingly to his lawyers or they are the worst ever.

Not a fan of Rocket

I have never been a fan of rocket, myself. In fact, I was never a fan of him. He seems really fake. I have met him several times in Houston and he just seems like a really pompous and pretentious guy. If you ever met him he gives off a bad vibe.

Here is a much more detailed article from New York Daily News:

I think he cheated on her, but you get any woman you want and you get some mediocre country singer. There are much hotter mistresses out there. Debby is pretty hot too.

to answer your question...

no, guys don’t do that all the time

by BigTexBD on Apr 28, 2008 11:57 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Nope

Me personally, I prefer to strictly obide by the letter of the law in whichever state/country I’m in.

Or was she referring to the cheating part?

So take that.

Hilarious

Just had to applaud that comment

i guess i should clarify

If i were to have an affair, it would only last a few months, maybe up to 6. 10 years is just being cocky. I mean, c’mon Roger. You gotta learn to hit it & quit it.

HA!

You are too funny. Actually, I was referring to the 15-year-old part. Ugh.

I refused to name my children Vince, Kevin or Major ... despite my secret desire to do so.

the "rocket"

has never done it for me. he does come off as an a$$hole. i was in bar with a buddy one night in houston. my buddy banks hasn’t lived in one place for more than six months since they kicked him out of a&m. and he just doesn’t get into the whole watching sports thing. different strokes. anyway, as we sit down i say “i think that’s roger clemens sitting at the corner of the bar. he had a gaggle of people around him and the guy sitting next to banks seemed to be with him. so banks, asks him “hey is that roger clemens?” . the guy says “yeah why you want his autograph or a picture or something?”. banks says “well f@&k no does he want mine?!” roger heard this and stopped talking and looked at both of us and decided to pack up the show and move elsewhere. it was like he’d never heard anyone talk to him like that before. and i almost forgot: guy’s don’t do it all the time. they especially don’t do it all the time with drug addicted, trailer trash, has-been cuntry singers.

...and ou still sucks.
