A&M 08
I've been thinking a lot about next year's game against the ags. As backwards as it sounds, I like Texas's chances against a Mike Sherman team over any Franchoine team.
My reasoning is that Mike Sherman runs a pro-style offense (west coast?), and as far as our defense goes, we are able to deal with that sort of attack for the most part. However Franchoine's gimmick read option offense has given Texas fits for three years in a row. So who else thinks that the coach whom the Ags kicked out the red carpet for will fail to achieve what a bumbling-run-out-of-town coach did twice in a row? And in addition, what other factors play a big role in getting the rivalry back on track (steamrolling some aggies)?
Theres a poll too.

new defense = easy victory
Anyway...the Ags go to a more pass-friendly (not necessarily pass-oriented, just more friendly) offense at the same time we go to a more aggressive-against-the-pass defense. That, and the game is now on T-Day, back where it should be, back where we accumulated our massive all-time advantage against them (except for their cheatin' years). The earth will realign on its axis and we coast to a win.
I disagree, in the first game we could have had
10 more possessions and we wouldn't have scored. The second game, we kept it close, but never got over the hump. Next year, we should be better than A&M, but considering the way they have out-prepared UT and played the game with more energy and heart the last two years, I just can't be overly confident.
if you didn't think the '07 game was a blowout
You must have been watching a different game than me.
texas scored to make it close at the end, but A&M's victory was never in question.
Don't mind Wells
He has defined himself as a contrarian; I suspect he is clever enough to have grasped the spirit of your remark.
We were clearly blown out of Kyle Field in 07.
08 class was solid
08 class ranked near texas. as far as 09, i have no idea
I can't see.....
....how you've reached that conclusion. While they don't have the class we've gathered, they are off to a good start. We're just about done, so they will have a lot to choose from in the remainder of the Top-50.
Stephen Barrera - Scout has him a 4-star* and the nation's #10 DT
Rhontae Scales - Scout has him a 4-star* and the nation's #12 OT
Clinton Naron - Scout has him a 3-star* (we have plenty of those on the O-Line) and the nation's #19 OT
Ivory Wade - Rivals has him rated a 4-star* OL
Ryan Swope - a quality athlete from 5A Westlake powerhouse. Whether he stays at RB or uses his 4.32 40 in the slot is yet to be determined, but he's obviously going to make a 4-star* rating.
pretty much
we lost most of our great guys. and I know one of our backups was arrested earlier in the year. So, it'll be probably the aggies biggest weakness on offense. (Among a travesty of others)
How much is alot?
How much have you been thinking about this?
Is this a weekly thing, or is think keeping you up at night?
The 06 game
I don't know about not being able to score in 10 more possessions especially since we were 1 offensive pass interference call, on Sweed I think, from winning it. I know we had ridiculous offensive difficulties with Colt throwing at receivers feet, but we had a touchdown if the refs hadn't taken it away. I think we could have gotten another one.
It was definitely poor offense by UT, not great D by A&M.
Except for that thug
Who felt it was necessary to assault Colt as he was walking off the field after the play was over. Poor Colt was still recovering from that pinched nerve he got during the K-State game, too, so it was totally out of line and yet the guy still got to stay in the game. The guy was a classless creep and there was no uproar about how terrible he was from the Aggie faithful. A shame, he was/is a scar on a usually classy team.

good point
this is interesting...
what in their storied history would give you the notion that they were classy???
Seriously...
I know quite a few Aggies, and it's an interesting phenomenon to me - individually, almost every one is a great person - yes, classy! But if you get more than two or at the very most three together, they turn into... well, that 'classy' adjective does not come to mind...

Fair Enough
I'd never seen that before! They tend to dismiss the "Paterno needs a coffin" types and denounce those people in public (heck, that yell leader got taken out of yell practice), but that's what made me so mad about this whole incident: there was no public apology for causing an injury like that and I wish Mack Brown or Colt had filed assault charges on the dude, even if they didn't stick. It was complete BS and they act like they're proud of it! Congratulations, you've become the Notre Dame or Miami of the Big 12.

that "assault" has overshadowed the fact
that Colt absolutely sucked that day.
Colt should thank Kellen Heard, b/c that hit allowed everyone to ignore his piss-poor play, and focus on something else.
You bring up the '06 game, texas fans don't talk about how bad Colt played, they talk about Kellen Heard. Enough said.
06' then 07'
I was with everyone else in 06' making excuses why Colt played horrible, then it continued in 07'. The best thing Colt could have done to shut up all of the agros was to come out in 07' and have a great game....didn't happen. Colt has two more chances to redeem himself.
