Basketball Assistant Ken McDonald to Western Kentucky
A few years ago, it was Rick Barnes' assistant coach, Frank Haith, who departed Austin for a head coaching job at Miami. This year, Andy Katz of ESPN.com is reporting that Ken McDonald will leave the program after securing the head coaching job as Western Kentucky. McDonald was previously an assistant at Western Kenucky under head coach Dennis Felton from 1998-2003. Former Western Kentucky head coach, Darrin Horn, resigned last week to take the open job at South Carolina.
Congratualations to Coach McDonald! Good luck.
One other quick coaching note, McDonald may not be the only Longhorn assistant to leave this off-season. Rodney Terry is a candidate for the open head job at Rice.

Statement from Barnes

"We are so happy for Ken and his family. I obviously go back a ways with Ken, from the time when he played for our teams at Providence and later worked as an assistant on our staff at both Clemson and here at Texas. It is almost like he’s grown up before our eyes.
The thing that I’m most excited about for Ken is that after he spent the five years as an assistant at Western Kentucky, he has always referred to the head coaching position at Western Kentucky as a dream job. I know what a great passion he has for Western Kentucky. We’re excited to see him earn this opportunity, and we all wish him the best."

Which assistant is our best recruiter?
One of the guys on our bench is a stud recruiter. He's credited with getting Durant among others. Is this the guy, or is he still around?

is the guy who got Durant. He's still around. Not sure if he's the "stud recruiter" you're talking about, but he's doing something right.
