Men's tennis in NCAA Elite 8

The UT men's tennis team advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals with a 4-0 win over 9th-seeded Florida on Friday. The 'Horns haven't dropped a match since the tourney started last weekend in Tulsa, posting 4-0 victories over A&M CC, Rice and the Gators. Texas, the tournament's 7th seed, meets 2-seed Ohio State today. The rest of the Elite 8 are Baylor, Georgia, Mississippi, top-seed Virginia, USC and UCLA.

texassports.com has a report on Friday's win over Florida . ncaa.com sucks as far as tourney coverage is concerned. Your better bet is the University of Tulsa site , where they are filling in the bracket as the tournament proceeds.

Texas is leading in all 3 doubles matches

tOSU really struggled to put away Illinois yesterday and had to play all seven matches to advance. Texas should be fresher today, and as NYCHorn noted has been on fire in the post-season.

Texas lost in the Sweet 16 last year to NC State, and at the same point to Pepperdine the year before.

texassports doesn’t do a very good job in covering tennis, does anyone know if the mens’ team has ever made it to the Final Four?

Final Four in 06

We lost to Pepperdine in the national semifinals in 06. We’ve advanced to the sweet 16 several times under Coach Center. Center got off to a rough start at Texas but has since put together a perrenial top 15 program. Make no mistake, this team has the talent and more importantly, the depth to make a run at this thing.

I’m a huge tennis fan, and I keep up with all this stuff, but I never post it because I think no one will care. I’m really excited about this men’s team. I think this is the best men’s team we’ve had since my first year at Texas (‘98). And even if we don’t win another match, a final four, or semifinals in tennis, is a great season.

Any tv coverage for the next round? I think ESPN normally covers the finals.

take the link to the Tulsa site, they have live video you can watch online. Not sure about TV coverage, though. I’m sure if there is, texassports will mention it in the preview.

It's a chair...

I thought it was sort of ironically appropriate to post a burning item of furniture, since I think the Buckeye fans are so crazy for burning couches. That chair belonged to the brother of a friend of mine, and we were all hanging out and he decided that the chair needed to go, it was past its prime. So, he set it on fire, even though we encouraged him not to. But I ran for camera after a minute or so because that thing went UP. It looked like it had been coated in lighter fluid. I suggested maybe Eric La Salle had sat in it and left some Soul Glo on it. Either way, it was a massive fire. But no one was hurt, so you know.
