Programming Note
My exams conclude today with Con Law (BON study guide here), which means I'll finally be back in the saddle and writing again. Or at least hanging on by the horn - there is still the football annual which must be sent to press by next Friday.
As grinding on my fun-loving soul as the past few weeks have been, there's been little to nothing in Longhorns news anyway. I suppose the stretch run for the baseball team should be exciting this year, considering it's fighting for its postseason life. Beyond that, expect the usual - some statistical queries, wild speculation about events in September, and the like - but also perhaps a few more off topic digressions. We've got a long summer in front of us.

Did you know that Burnt Orange People like...
Yelling "Yee-haw" – For those not familiar with southwestern vernacular, the term "Yee-haw" in its formal sense is a means of making the horse you’re riding start moving and is often shortened to a simple "yaw!"
For Longhorns fans, the phrase morphed into an all-encompassing celebratory response and can have just as many meanings as the Eskimos have words for snow. Maybe you just won a $2 scratch off, "yee-haw."
Or perhaps you got your test results back from the doctor and he says you’re free to resume full sexual activity because that burning sensation isn’t an STD after all – "Yee-Haw."
Most likely though, you’re sitting in the stands at DKR minding your own business when a group of short-skirted cheerleaders down on the field are simultaneously launched into the air and while defying the laws of physics, gravity and anatomy, kick both ankles above their heads reveling both the way you came into this world and your reason for being all at the same cathartic moment. "Texas-Texas-Yee-Haw, indeed.
Be nobody but yourself in a world that desperately wants you to be like everybody else.

Congrats Pete, One to Go
Once Con law is done you can head down to the ‘Backer and drink PBR to celebrate. Maybe go out to the Olive Garden for a nice dinner.
That aside, congrats. First year’s almost over.

Postponed discussion
Didn’t we postpone discussing some issue regarding economics of collegiate athletics? I don’t remember exactly what it was, but maybe this could be a time to get back to it if anyone still cares.
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. If they get mad, you're a mile away AND you have their shoes.

Peter
Best of luck on your final today. I take my Con Law tomorrow and then, mercifully, I’m done.

Congrats, PB
Would have posted this earlier, but I just woke up from my traditional post-final nap. One more tomorrow…
