Point, Texas

The University of Texas has been selected as a host site for one of the Regional rounds of the 2008 NCAA volleyball championships for the second time in three years. This is a testament to both the quality of the program of late and the great support of the fans. Regional sites are chosen largely based on attendance figures, but of course also based on the quality of the team. On both counts Texas is one of the tops in the country of late, finishing in the top 10 in both final rankings and average attendance. What does this mean for the team - and us fans? Well it's almost certain the Texas will play the first four rounds in Austin, so we get to see more games and the team gets home court advantage. Given the talent that's returning for 2008, there's no reason not to expect Texas to make it to the Regional Final for the third year in a row, and this year to finally break through to the Final Four. I'd say that would definetly merit a trip back over the pond for ole PHF.
