UT/Big12 All-Star Discussion
Yeah, Im bored at work, and thirsty for more football discussion. Unfortunately my work place is a barren expanse with no football fans of any consequence in sight.
So I bring a fairly lame topic here to generate some more discussion to fuel my purely selfish needs.
Here is my UT all-star team, sprinkled with some players I respected as opponents. I roughly kept it to the past 10 years, so sorry, no Tyler Rose.
Your charge: Find specific positions you disagree with, and support an alternative candidate from within the past 10 years, with facts, pictures, video, or inane discourse. Then subject your choices along with mine own to your peers for ridicule and rebuttal.
Offense:
QB - Vince
RB - Ricky, backed up by Quinten Griffin
FB - Jovarski Lane; Tell me he couldnt excel here.
WR1 - Roy Williams
WR2 - Rashaun Woods; push off specialist, hell of a college receiver
WR3 - Wes Welker; Running back in College I know, but anywhere else he would have made a hell of a receiver.
OL - Not much flash here, but as long as Kasey Studdard is there, Im happy
TE1 - David Thomas
TE2 - Martellus Bennett
Random Offensive Sub1 - Ramonce Taylor
Random Offensive Sub2 - Darren Sproles
Defense:
DT - Tommie Harris
DT - Shaun Rodgers
DE - Corey Redding
DE - Tim Crowder
LB1 - Derrick Johnson
LB2 - DD Lewis
LB3 - Dan Cody
SS - Roy Williams
FS - Josh Bullocks
CB1 - Terrance Newman
CB2 - Michael Huff

What?
There is only one Roy Williams that deserves to be on there on this site. The other should be replaced by Michael Griffin. He can also kindly go drown somewhere.
Bullocks can sip some water as he watches Huff play his natural position.
And then CB2 = Aaron Ross as Huff moves over to FS.
Then Casey Hampton plays with Rogers.
OL = ‘05 Texas national title line
RB2 = Adrian Peterson. No need for a fullback.
No homers here. None whatsoever. I can’t see any.

Evil Roy may be exposed in the Pros
But he was out right feared in college.
If you free up a CB spot, I might go Jammer over Ross. Again no homerism in here at all.
Tommie gets a spot on the D-line though, no way he gets put out.
‘05 includes Studdard, so I agree with your OLine.
For some reason Griffin scares me more than AP, and would make a hell of a lightening to Ricky’s thunder, then again, Thunder+Thunder could be frightening as well.

Geez, what was I thinking
How silly of me to put such a weenie like AP on this team. Here’s what mine will look like:
QB: VY
RB: Ricky Williams, Jamaal Charles, Priest Holmes
FB: Ahmard Hall (he’ll block a whole lot better than the fat-A Javorsky Lane)
WR: Roy Williams, Limas Sweed, Jordan Shipley (I went to elementary and middle school with the guy)
TE: David Thomas, Bo Scaife
O-line: ‘05 Texas
DT: Casey Hampton, Shaun Rogers
DE: Tim Crowder, Corey Redding
LB: Derrick Johnson, DD Lewis,... Sergio Kindle
CB: Vasher, Jammer, Ross
FS: Huff
SS: Griffin
K: Dawson
P: Um… Colt McCoy
KR: Ramonce Taylor
PR: Aaron Ross
That’s what I like about BON. High on objectivity and short on homerism. Can’t think of a better list than that.

This list is making my head hurt...
A list of your favorite Longhorns mixed with some opponents you respect? I know August is a ways away, but this is too much of a stretch to bother with…

As a Texas fan I must suggest that for token white reciever welker has gotta go and we should sub in Jordy Nelson, just to have some way of justifying the way he tore us up at home last year.
For the Future: Kindle will be an all star after this year(freaky to think about the fire that Muschamp is gonna light under his ass), Orakpo will work his way on there (see workout warriors article…WOW), Crabtree will find a place on here probably 2 games into next season and God knows where he ll be if he stays 4 yrs…And my wishful thinking/praying is that Colt will be allstar big 12 holding VY’s clipboard (Please Colt, you don’t have to win games on your own, just dont lose them on your own)

I had Jordy in there first
But Welker’s career at Tech > Jordy’s at KSU in my opinion. Welker led the team in receptions as their running back, imagine they actually had someone to line up at RB so they could put Welker in at WR.
Not to mention Welker can return, kick, etc…
Crabtree I agree will make it big before long, just not there yet.
If Orakpo has a full healthy year Im sure it will be something special.

Wow
that is all I have to say about these lists…..
Here is what a Big 12 Team over the past 10 years should look like…
QB : Vince ( I love how u just used his first name)
RB : Ricky, Adrian Peterson
FB : Lawrence Vickers (played RB, but was a true FB)
TE: David Thomas
WR: Roy Williams
WR: Michael Crabtree
OL : Texas and OU’s line’s
Kicker : Mason Crosby
Punter : Daniel Sepulveda
I Liked oyur Defense, with the exception that I wouldn’t leave out Jammer, Vasher, and Darrent Williams RIP

Big 12 all-stars
I would definitly replace Griffin at RB with Adrian Peterson (no question).
The O-line would have to have Leonard Davis, and Justin Blaylock on it.
J. Lane shouldn’t be on this list, because he isn’t even in shape to play a whole football game.
Everything else I wouldn’t have a problem with.
