Curtis Brown Rumors
For those of you that are not orangeblood members, there is a rumor going around that Curtis Brown might be moved to WR for the up coming season.
What do yall think about this??
I personally think that he is an elite CB who has a much better chance at making it to the NFL as CB..... BUT a part of me is selfish and wants him to play WR just so he can be that game breaker that we need on offense when Chiles is on the bench.

That rumor makes no sense for a number of reasons
Of course, that’s true of 99% of Orangebloods.com

To clarify
Unless Curtis Brown is putting on the Michael Crabtree/Jeremy Maclin show at practice, there’s zero reason to move him from CB, where he’s (health-willing) far more valuable to us, saving our WR hopes for the Buckner, Williams, Grant, Kirkendoll, Collins, Webber, et al group as our hope to produce a pass catching threat or two.
FWIW, there’s been a rumor going around that site for some time that Chiles is or is about to transfer. Though I keep getting emails about it, I’ve dug as deep as I can and simply am not hearing anything of the sort. I think you just have to dismiss most of what you read on that board as worthless.

And Hales
Seriously, that’s a huge group of WR options. Why would we toss Brown in that mix?
Like I said, I can’t even make sense of this idea.

Jerry Scarborough says CB will play some WR
I don’t think Curtis Brown is necessarily MOVING to WR, but might
play some WR in addition to CB, at least that’s from my reading of
what Jerry Scarborough mentioned in True Orange.

i can't imagine this being true.
as PB noted, the WR group is deep and talented.
CB has the stuff to be one of the nation’s elite CBs.
I’ll take trial by fire in the secondary over wasted reps with the O any day.
My adopted son Curtis Brown has the power of flight, but can't navigate his way onto the field.

Two questions:
A) 40 dash time – is he substantially faster than everyone else; anyone have it? 4.3-? The kid coming in on the track scholarship is the only one I’ve heard in that range.
B) Hands – CBs typically don’t have great hands, but he may be the exception. Any clue on that one? I’ve watched practice the last couple of years and focused on the receivers. I don’t remember him sticking out. Finley had great hands as a freshman, Shipley , Cosby and Jones were consistently the best, with Sweed close and getting better each year. Kirkendoll has good hands. Beasley was a QB at WOS and has fine hands. Hell, Eddie Jones fielded punts in practice last year and was pretty sure handed. No one but no one has a 260-pound punt returner.
So, what does he have that he could pass the pack on the outside (ala Manzano in the 1500 prelims) and kick ass. I am sorta partial toward Gilmer, home of the sweet potaters, for no good reason. (There was a guy on our dorm floor from Gilmer; he did a calculation on the everyone’s big toe to determine who had the most massive big toe. I thought it was a class assignment but we had a great time abusing him for such a weird idea…we were an easily amused bunch of hicks our freshman year. Probably still are…)
Or is this more of Reveille’s summer shedding…you know they should have chihuahuas all the way down.

Thanks, 05, Got a fanshot?
If he has great talent, why not do both. I have no problem with Chiles playing QB and WR. We can no longer let great talent sit on the fricking bench game after game. It’s just a waste of resources.
Historically Texas tends to get locked in to its starters and new blood has problems getting on the field. I’d like to think this year will be somewhat different.
I’d like to see 50-60 players hit the field in every ooc game. I want to see as much talent displayed as humanly possible.
Let them show their skills and their potential; sure, they’ll make mistakes but they can make some great plays, too.
With receivers, you never know what you have until you see them on the field; there is no substitute there. If they have the knack, the touch, it’ll show up pretty quickly.

He’s obviously got some YAC ability against lesser talent
http://youtube.com/watch?v=erze2C3ClW0
But he doesn’t seem quite as fast as his supposed 40 time (4.4).

That catch at 0:51
ends with a nice burn. But I didnt see anything that blew me away like Buckners hands do, or Deshaun’s speed.

Finally got to watch it.
Great sense of balance, fine acceleration after the catch and good field vision. Very aggressive runner. Lotsa YAC at that level. Give him a shot.

Should we
.....take this as affirmation of a Chiles’ transfer?
