Tailgating question

So, I've been away from Austin for a few years, but I'm back now and I heard that  the pre-game tailgating/parking situation changed recently. I've searched the posts, but couldn't find much. I'm used to setting up camp around SanJac and 18th, but not sure if that's still an open lot.

Can somone update me on the scene? Is it still on a first-come basis? Does BON have a spot?

Anyone?

BON was set up in that lot about 50 yards southeast of the stadium, but I think that lot is closed to tailgating now. Wells or other Andrew: y’all still in that same spot?

Wells goes to the games?

I imagined him thoughtfully blogging along while sipping Chardonnay and sampling goat cheese. Well, that could just be his tailgate ritual…

If by "closed to tailgating"

you mean that lot has been given to donors of such stature that they show up in the first quarter then yes. Things are in the works for this upcoming season. I’m not sure our spot in that lot can handle the entire Burnt Orange Nation. Maybe if you can spare us some of your $213,000 we’ll do it.

Those were the days

By the way, I think I’m flying in for Missouri, possibly Thanksgiving. You’re in charge of brisket.

Some other places

Maybe this has already become outdated in the year I’ve been out of Austin, but the best spots we’ve been to are the grassy lot at San Jac and 15th (by the tennis courts) and also in the Bob Bullock museum parking lot. For SJ and 15th, you’ll have to get there pretty early because it’s first-come basis on the day of the game (it helps to bring some twine and mark out a spot—as long as your people actually show up early). For the Bullock lot, we always bought our 2 or 3 parking spaces for $10 a pop the Friday night before the game, and they’d be reserved for us when we got there Saturday.

Someone correct me if this is old info.
