TJ Ford Traded per ESPN

On the eve of the NBA draft, the Toronto Raptors and Indiana Pacers finally agreed to a trade.

Sources told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher that the Pacers and the Raptors have agreed to a deal that, pending physicals, would send Jermaine O'Neal to Toronto in exchange for T.J. Ford, Rasho Nesterovic and the No. 17 pick in Thursday's NBA draft.

Ford's contract makes him a "base-year compensation" player, meaning the trade cannot be completed until July 9.

Hopefully the Pacers fans will be more appreciative of TJ

I think this might mean DJ falls to the Blazers – which would make them one of my favorite teams just like that.

I was hoping TJ would get traded to the Knicks. I know, I know…they suck and their ownership is garbage, but I thought he would thrive in D’Antoni’s system.

As for DJ I really didn’t want him going to Indy anyway. I’m really hoping he’ll go to Portland. Playing with Aldridge, Oden, and Roy would be a great situation for DJ. Tomorrow night should be interesting.

last minute DJ news on Insider

Chad Ford:

D.J. Augustin: Nets at 10, Pacers at 11, Kings at 12, Blazers at 13, Cavs at 19. We’ve had Augustin going to the Pacers for forever, but that obviously will change if they pull the trigger on the T.J. Ford deal. I don’t think he’ll slide too badly, however, given the interest by the Kings and the Blazers. In fact, the Blazers are talking about moving up to No. 10 in a deal with the Nets that would send 13, 33 and Jarrett Jack to New Jersey for 10 and Mo Ager. The Blazers’ target appears to be Augustin. I think the farthest he will drop is Cleveland at No. 19.

John Hollinger:

The draft is their oyster. Prior to this trade, Indy seemed locked into taking D.J. Augustin at No. 11 to resolve the point guard issue. They still might - forming an all-Longhorn point guard rotation - but they’re also freed to pursue other talents that may unexpectedly fall their way (like Brook Lopez). And with the No. 17 pick, they can grab a second young big - heavens knows this draft has enough of them - to quickly rebuild the frontcourt rotation.

I just hope TJ stays healthy

It seems like whenever he gets on the court he does well, but injuries are holding him back from being considered elite.

At least at Indiana I hope he has the opportunity to start and play meaningful minutes all year, and stay healthy.

Good Luck TJ, heres hoping you can settle down somewhere.

Takes me 2 hours to drive to Indy. I'll go this season to cheer on any 'Horns they acquire

It's a Horns' world. Even Aggies play hoops with a burnt orange ball.
Is it football season YET?

Heh I was at a Mavs pre-season game

Against the Bucks when TJ was on that team.

I cheered my head off whenever TJ had the ball, and then cheered the Mavs the rest of the way. Some people gave me sidelong looks when I first was cheering “against” the Mavs, but then saw the UT shirt, and figured it out. Or just stopped caring. They were good seats, and in preseason, so the fans werent that into it.

We did that

About 10 of us went to the Rockets game when KD made his first appearance back in Texas as a pro. The Rockets fans didn’t quite know what to make of us since we were cheering for both teams.

Wearing my Titans #10 jersey at Reliant gets a completely different, more impassioned reaction for some reason.

Yeah

I listen to Houston Sports radio almost daily at work, if the Titans/Oilers thing wasn’t enough, the VY/Mario Williams now makes wearing Vince Titan’s jerseys in Houston quite a mixed reaction from what I hear on the radio.

Some callers coming in couldnt get past the Oilers thing, but as a college fan, Im with you in being more loyal to individuals than a team, and lets face it, Vince is a Houston legend.

DJ to Sactown would be awesome

He has always reminded me of Bibby and he could help the Kings rebuild.

I’m rooting for him to end up a Trailblazer.

They’re building something special up there, if injuries, etc. don’t derail it. And I’d love to see DJ holding a few trophies in the years ahead.

That said, I’d still rather them have taken Kevin Durant last year… Oden may turn out to be really, really good, but I still believe Durant will be the greater player when it’s all said and done.

latest Sonics rumor

Per Chad Ford:

The Clippers and Sonics have agreed to swap picks as long as the Wolves take O.J. Mayo at No. 3. If Mayo isn’t drafted at 3, the deal is off according to two sources close to the information.

With the No. 4 pick, expect the Clippers to take Eric Gordon of Indiana. They’ve coveted him as the type of dominant scorer they’ve been looking for.

The Sonics will take Brook Lopez or Jerryd Bayless at No. 7. However it seems Lopez will be the guy.
