New commitments

http://recruitingblog.dallasnews.com/

The above is a link to a commitment from Marquise Goodwin, the kid from Rowlett who tore it up in state with 5 medals. He will also be playing football for the 'Horns from what that says.

Waxahachie's pitcher Cain has also given a verbal.

This is my first post here so sorry if it's in the wrong format or anything. I've been lurking here for months and figured I might as well post something. And also, sorry if this has already been mentioned elsewhere. I didn't see it though.

Goodwin is a freak
At state, Goodwin repeated as champion in the long jump (26-1½), won the triple jump (50-0½) and was part of winning 4×100 relay (40.26). He placed second in the 100 (10.38) and was part of the third-place 4×200 (1:26.15).

Here’s a link.

interesting...

... if he gets a track scholarship, can he “walk on” the football team without affecting the football scholarship limit?

I would think so

I remember when Ricky was coming to school here- he wasn’t on scholarship because his baseball “career” was paying his way, I believe.

scholarship

He can come on a track shollie but as soon as he steps on the football field in a game, that schollie is changed to a football schollie. So essentially he could redshirt with the track schollie, then swtch the following year.

exactly

he will run track his freshman year, while being red shirted in football. then his soph year he will play football and his scholarship will be Football instead of track.

Little fun fact… His long jump was longer than any Big 12 long jump this season!

With Apologies To Randy Edsall, The Big East Remains Mostly Harmless

FILE -- This is an Oct. 18, 2008 file photo showing Connecticut corner back Jasper Howard (6) trying to get the crowd into the game during the fourth quarter of an NCAA college football game against Rutgers, in Piscataway, N.J. Jasper Howard had his little sisters' names tatooed on his chest. His friends say it was a constant reminder of why he was at U Conn _ to provide his family with a better life than the one he had in Miami's Little Haiti. (AP Photo/Mel Evans, File) link
