Bowden Love
I just read this article about this years Texas football team by Terry Bowden. I totally agree with everything he says in this article
http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=tb-texas072108&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

I hope this can help people worry a little less for the next month. I also hope this makes some people worry a little more (tech,ou, and a&m fans). Texas will be a good team this year. Hook Em'

I think we can beat OU the more I think about it...
But I worry about Tech. Matchups, matchups, matchups. With OU’s LB corps, I hope they get a taste of the KBD crew for the next year or two. If our OL is as good as it should be, I think we can run on the Sooners a little, which will lead to us passing on their young secondary a little more. Their offense is kind of a power-spread where you have a deadly downhill running game and a gimmicky passing game that they keep adapting after Leach and Mangino left. If we don’t let Murray slaughter us on the ground, I think we’ll do well defensively.
Tech on the other hand, is going to score some freakin’ points, and we’re going to have to score like we did last year to beat them. Can we do that on the road? We’ll see. I think that we’ll have to whether the storm in the first half and then cause some TO’s in the second. Hopefully the secondary will develop into the hammer to the front seven’s anvil and the Tech receivers quit catching balls as the game goes on. Worked in ‘06. I think Vondrell and Fozzy are going to have a fun time in Lubbock, it just comes down to who gets the breaks.

You're veering into prairie gibberish.
Bowden affirms the best of what we hope for Muschamp in a very clean readable piece (probably edited within an inch of its life) and you immediately lapse into OU fantasy and Technophobia. Get a grip.

OU
is beatable. The ou secondary isn’t a championship caliber secondary. I just hope Muschamp can find a way to stop the run. Bradford is way overrated. ou runs simple routes, nothing special if we can shut down the run.

Maybe you're right...
Perhaps, as we near the end of our preseason desert journey and I expect an oasis, I am simply miraging gaps in the armor. If I am though, then they are merely exaggerations of actual cracks. OU appears to have the same kind of problems we’ve had over the past two years with their suddenly depleted LB’s and DB’s. I realize, though, that the difference is Stoops coaching them versus Mack, and therefore we probably won’t see the same inattention to problems that we’ve seen here. Still, he can’t make good talent out of bad talent, so the effect should show itself in a muted version of what happened to us. Perhaps it’s just the edge that we need to be able to move the ball on them, and perhaps we’ll have enough defensive firepower to make our “just enough” offense just enough to win.
As for Tech, it doesn’t look good, but I know I’m turning a camel into a tank (to continue the desert imagery) somewhere. The offense will be the same, but it will be at home, and we lost much of our offense that will be on the road, so the best to hope for is that our defense rises to the challenge.
I haven’t said anything about Missouri, and that’s an overlook (as are a few other games to worry about, but today’s terror-meter is just at orange for them, while it’s red for these guys). I guess I’m just less fearful since I’ll be there in person, if that makes any sense. It actually doesn’t, but it’s probably something to do with psychology.

tech game
Texas should have their offense established by the time they play tech, and some playmakers should emerge. I think once Texas finds a replacement for Charles, everything will be fine.

See, you can be inspirational. Smart move.
I see no need in worrying about Tech in July. In another month or two we’ll know so much more and have a much better perspective. Tech will be adjusting to all our early stuff anyway and will have shown their capability.
You can always chew the fat on OU. They’re gonna be a loaded hand, and we don’t even know what cards we have yet.
Here’s where we have to have a little faith in Muschamp. I interpret Stoops’ declaration for making the offense faster – quicker play execution – as a need to compensate for the defense. But until we have some idea about us, we’re just sort of wandering in circles of hype and projection and worrying needlessly.
I would like to see a chip on our shoulder when we walk into the Cotton Bowl, not the standard GD/Mack conservative game plan. I want the Major thumping-his-chest one. We’re gonna get smacked around, but I want us to our fair share of pounding and exploitation, too. It’s a heavyweight fight with KO potential every round, and I don’t wanna see a lightweight strategy.
A couple games into the season we might all be puking gibberish. Right now is the fun time when the future is starting to open up. Be sweet to your girlfriend and forget OU and Tech for a while. It ain’t like they’re going away.

Is that a metaphor, or are you talking about 54b’s recent red river shoot out experiences with Jello shots?

Was it red jello? Ugggghhhhh.
Blazing Saddles. Didn’t key back to 54b, unfortunately.
We had a Christmas office party one year with jello shots where a few individuals went overboard and lost it on the publisher’ s carpet [he wasn’t there; he was Sicilian] and the next morning there were pink polka dots all over the parking lot.
Great party and, of course, our last with outrageous alcohol consumption,

Tech
Muschamp specializes in stopping the spread. Tech is known to struggle against SEC defenses. Texas will put many points up on Tech, and should be more than they will put on us.

What is ‘gimmicky’ about their passing game?
