Horns announce open practices
Texas announced two open practices for fans:
Wednesday, Aug. 6, 6:45 p.m.
Thursday, Aug. 7, 6:45
Both will be at Denius Fields, 26th and Red River. The MB-TF announcement also noted that if practices should be moved into The Bubble, the practice would no longer be open. No mention of a re-schedule in such an event.
The Texas site also recommends parking at the Manor Garage (PG-5) across from DKR-Memorial Stadium. In the past there has been parking across the street from Denius in the lots there as well as on eastbound 26th before the Red River light.
The Horns will not be in full pads until Friday, Aug. 8th.
Fan Appreciation Day will be Saturday, Aug. 16, at the stadium at 11 a.m. There will be a closed scrimmage before this event, which is really for autographs and photos. If y'all are looking to adopt a player, this would be a good time for a photo to cement the bond, unless, of course, you want to retain your anonymity or the reward for your capture is just too great to risk it. Other arrangements may be available.

In addition, the Austin American-Statesman reports something new this year as Alan Tebow shakes down his inside source:
A source close to the football team said Texas will practice twice a day with split squads Aug. 4 and 5. The older players will practice in the morning, and the younger players will watch. Then, in the afternoon, the younger players will practice, and the older players will help out.
The idea to split the squad was originally brought by former defensive coordinator Gene Chizik, now the coach of the Iowa State Cyclones. Chizik, and current defenisve coordinator Will Muschamp, liked the way the split squad practices worked at Auburn.
No comment on where the split in age will be; it did not specify just freshmen. So, perhaps this will be a good orientation. Or, as the seniors say, easy pickin's.
I don't have an accurate count on upperclassmen.

What time and what channel will the FAU game be on?

Not released yet.
MB-TF has a complete schedule with all those details. And at some point PB probably will post the schedule; last year it was in the right-hand column.
This PSA did look sorta lonely, didn’t it?
Broadcasts are very much a function of last year’s performance and poll expectation this year, especially for the nationwide broadcasts. So, my expectation for FAU is that it will be regionally televised only. As the season proceeds, the success of the team dictates the scale of the demand. Nationally televised games have fallen off since ‘05, perhaps another of Mack’s and DD’s concerns.
UTEP, Arkansas, OU and aTm are the only games tagged exactly. UTEP is on ESPN2, Arkansas and OU are on ABC while the agros will be on ESPN.
