1. Is Notre Dame. Always. Whether they come off the national title or 3-9 (yippee), my two favorite teams every week are the Longhorns and whoever is playing the Irish. Actually, I admire the school. But the alumni base, particularly those who never went to the school, are too much to take. This hatred goes way back, but the NBC issue clinched No. 1 for all time.
2. Miami. Thug City, and long before the ugly on-field deal with FIU.
3. Ohio State. This goes back to my father (a Michigan man) and the days of Woody Hayes. Please, USC and somebody else, keep the Buckeyes out of the title game this season.

1. USC- Leinhart interview will still get me going if the topic comes up. Anyone else think VY would have gotten blasted by the media if the tables had been turned? The whole LA thing gets old, as well.
2. MIAMI-was sitting on the 50 yard line for the 91 Cotton Bowl slaughter. I was 11 and was absolutely crushed, not to mention scared that one of the UM guys might break out an oozie and start mowing people down. The game that changed college football celebration rules forever.
3. Oregon-combination of a general hatred for all of the uniforms they try out and despise for the PAC 10 in general.
4. Any team from the northeast that is having a good year. The closer a team gets to new york the more ESPN salivates. Rutgers, anyone?

1. Arkansas – Tacky fans, tacky school. Calling the hogs? One of the most outlandishly redneck traditions of any program not ou. And now, as a bonus, they hire a douche like Petrino.
2. Ohio State – Because f* the Big 10, that’s why. Haven’t seen a team do less and get more than OhSt.
3. USC – I agree with rchorns, I’m still pissed about the Leinart interview and Bush stealing Vince’s Heisman.
4. Miami – I hate watching the NFL and seeing all the references to “The U”. Kellen Winslow was the one that really solidified this one.
5. LSU – Recruiting, general tackiness, and some of the worst fans you’d ever hope to meet. They threw cups of piss onto Ole Miss fans a couple of years ago during a game in Death Valley. Despicable.

1. Notre Dame—Their history can’t be denied, but recently ND has been atrocious in numerous ways. The BCS scam is my biggest qualm as the agreement was made with the five major conferences and ND. That’s too much influence and cash for any individual school each year. The NBC deals are also crap, watching Ron Pawlus every week growing up. The Willingham firing, Weis, and their troll QB (looks like the SUM41 guy) don’t help either.

2. USC—Their unabated arrogance, Bush heisman, general surrounding Hollywood bs media & hype, Mayo, Bush, and anyone caught with illegal benefits yet no sanctions follow.

3. Ohio State—because of what ctex and 16thLonghorn said.

4. FSU—Always my least favorite FL team. Though diminished now, their long term success has been aggravating.

5. Arkansas—The SWC rivialry lives. They attended & booed our bball team when they weren’t even playing. I also witnessed Matt Jones’ career pinnacle as he beat us at DKR, scrambling around to throw a miracle on 3rd and 35 among other frustrating plays. I believe that was our only home loss during my time at UT.

My Longhorn education was at the feet of my two uncles, who both played for UT in the late 60’s and early 70’s, so my hate has less to do with current events than long past history.

1) Notre Dame – My uncles played these guys in the 69 Cotton Bowl and they said they never experienced such dirty play in any other game in their entire careers. This one is also easy because they’re still so imminently hatable.

2) SMU – Seriously, fuck SMU. They made Barry Switzer look like Abraham Lincoln back in the day. They bought Eric Dickerson out from under us, remember? Also, their student body (and alumni) consists entirely rich spoiled assholes.

3)Virginia Tech – Second dirtiest team my uncles played against. The younger of the two uncles said that Blacksburg is the only town in the country he would not step foot in even for a million dollars. Additionally, I’m pretty tired of VT being the top dog in a complete weak sister conference and pretending that they deserve top 5 consideration.

4)Arkansas – I think this has been sufficiently covered already, but I’ll add the entire Houston Nutt saga which nobody else has mentioned yet.

For starters, I know this is a non-conference discussion, but I must state my hatred for aTm. As much as I hate OU, I can still respect what they have a accomplished, meaning that they have won before. Wtf has assTomouth U done to think they re so fucking great? Oh yeah, tradition, fucking cheerleaders running around yelling code words at they re fans and doing some type of fucking wind talker arm signs, gimme a fucking break. Oh, your a jr., don’t show your ring, oh you’re a Sr. show ur ring, everybody hiss like a fucking snake while we all put our hands together to pray and shake them. Holy shit we scored, its gropping time. Damn they piss me off.

The simple fact that they get automatic bids to BCS games whenever they finish above .500 just pisses me off. What have they won lately? I know like 60 years before I was born they were a power house, but so was Princeton and Yale. I don’t hear them claiming to be the greatest football schools ever. They also have a Clausen hahah. Something about Woo Pig Sooey (Or however the fuck you spell it) makes my damn ears bleed. I have hatred embedded in me from the SWC rivalry, then Houston Nutt made that hatred even worse and now Petrino, don’t even get me started. Maybe I’ll hate them less when he accepts a coaching job in the CFL in week 3.

3-THE Ohio State University
THE shittiest second place team ever, for two years running. If they make the Natl Championship again I’m gonna put salt in my eyes to prevent me from watching them take another shit kicking.

4-FSU and Penn State
They’re coaches are older than dirt and every year they get so much respect in the polls because of this, despite the mediocre talent on both teams.

5- UT, the poor man’s UT, Tennessee
It really has nothing to do with the fact that they use our initials, or have the ugliest shade of orange ever, its Fulmer and the Clausens, what a fucking joke.

Wow I just relieved so much stress.

1. OU and aTm – the basic pod people on which to build a solid everyday hatred. There are OU people right here and game week they wear red, solid from head to toe, and spout shit from the moment they see you. But when they lose, they disappear, the red disappears and they won’t show their fat asses for months. But if they win, it’s rub-it-in city and there is just no way, short of assorted weaponry, to close the yaps. This is where I give a slight edge of the agros, because if they lose, they will own up to it. It will be the same old well-worn excuses, but at least they have the gumption to admit defeat. Some are even gracious. OU fans never are. Ever. You get the feeling that’s all they have to hang on to. Not that the agros are much above them, because I will hear shit for the whole year in every possible situation ‘cause they want to get their money’s worth for their scarce wins.

2. Slightly below are Akransas and Baylor. Just the presence of hogs is enough and it’s been well noted, but on the football field they are next to OU for the danger they always present. It is what they live for. Baylor is a special case, starting with the worm-eating game; I actually fell asleep at halftime when the Horns had a lead and woke up to a nightmare. The years when they beat us so bad – the 50-0 loss in Memorial stadium is one of the more horrific beatings Texas ever had – only deepened the anger. They always present this ‘woe is me’ image, the persecuted, when in fact they were one of the dirtiest teams in the SWC. The Sportsmanship Trophy they keep winning was a joke among many players I knew. And last, but not least, they manipulate their political power at the time to get included in the Big 12, a real fuckup for the conference who’s only good outcome was another opportunity to beat the living shit out of them. I don’t have stats on this, but it is one of the Horns most injury producing games of the year. Hypocritical assholes.

3. Developed hatreds – KSU and Couger High. KSU really slapped us around and there just isn’t enough revenge in this world to make us even for the next several decades. And that’s what I thought before the last two years. While there are two UH games that I thought were great – the 20-20 tie in 1968, the first wishbone game, and the 10-7 loss to UH a decade later, the 60-40 loss was the great turning point and a dangerous harbinger of what was going to transpire over the next decade. This is one team on which we got revenge but their institutional attitude has been and is an insult to everyone at Texas. That’s why we don’t play them anymore.

4. Miami - High on my list because we’ve never properly got the revenge necessary for the 40-3 Cotton Bowl loss. And with interest, this is one where there needs to be a mother lode of angst dumped on them multiple times. I remember when we started playing them and finally stopped when Jim Kelly beat us 20-15. They were an up and coming team. Then they became the oozing scab of college football and no low is too low for what they deserve. The Eyes will get even one day. No Mercy. None whatsoever. We need to go UH on their asses.

5. USC. I saw the game in ‘67 or so where John Wayne was on the sidelines and the Horns were on a down year, great D and no offense. SC was student body whichever way. The mofos got the ball with 8 minutes left in the fourth and ran out the fuckin’ clock for the win. The longest eight minutes in my life to that point They are all the arrogant assholes of the world. OU only aspires in their toothless arrogance to be SC and so does tOSU. They are the whorin’ bar girls of the West Coast media. I can’t relate how great it felt when VY scored the winning TD over those bastards, not because of the NC but simply because it was SC. Cheatin’ motherf*ckers of the worst sort. They are due the wrath of the football world and need to be reduce to the scum-sucking level of SMU. And we need to beat their Hollywood asses again as soon as humanly possible. There’s never enough to satisfy me.

6. ND, tOSU and an assorted cast of media-induced mountain climbers that need to tossed into some oil-soaked flames, but I only have some much hatred to spread around. But for point situations, my blood can boil to murder these guys. The world always needs to be set on a positive spin and the Eastern media needs to soak in their own shit forever.

It’s clearly a fun and light-hearted list, and college football fans probably delighted in voting for their arch-rivals. It’s not pretending that it’s some sort of expert compilation or authoritative list on the most “hated” teams. At least, I think it’s not. Nothing like the aforementioned “Greatest Team of All-Time” discussion before the team under question even played the championship game (that they lost to some team in Texas, incidentally).

f Colorado. You smell weird and stole a championship. Now you have Darrell Scott in the conference where teams throw like 3 miles a game. You are the worst.
