Excited but cautious
I am really excited about this team. EVERYONE picks Texas to have a 9-3 or 8-4 season and I love that role for us this year – been a long time since this happened.
While the ASU game at end of year was exciting, I still remember the other ASU game to start the year last year – kind of a statement of the entire Texas team last year.
We should be able to see what this Texas team is made of by about 7:30 pm on Aug 30 or halftime. I am optimistic that the ’Horns are going to surpsrise some people this year.
Am I missing something?
Did Colt McCoy turn into the new Michael Phelps, dreamy hearthrob for America’s pre-teens? How about we focus more on our fifth grade English Grammar coursework and a little less on Colt’s tight pants, eh?

I wondered which of us would snap first.
Also, now seems like a good time to point out that Firefox has an in-browser spell-check. It’s not perfect, but it is fairly helpful.

Beat up a girl
It makes me wonder if one of us would beat up a teenage girl in person. I’m hoping not. Anyway, I think coltmccoyluver is just a PB alter ego. Time to confess, Bean.

No,
I don’t think any of us would and I think we all appreciate and respect how enthusiastic she is about the horns.
Meekrob went overboard in making his point, but as a courtesy to her fellow BON’ers, I think we’d appreciate another 90 seconds spent proofing her post. Grammatical/capitalization issues aside, it’s a good post.
Meekrob, myself, and others here are a bit neurotic about grammar (as you’ve rightly noted), but at times form necessarily informs and clarifies substance. I like her posting, as I like pretty much all the denizens of BON sharing their voice, but I like to think they’re valuing the time we spend to read and understand and reply to their post.
Looking past the teenage girl-speak she’s made some good posts, and she is obviously here to talk about football. Our man Meekrob was subtle as a sledgehammer, but the point at the root of his comment is valid. It’s probably more respectful in the long run to ask her to use grammar (which I don’t doubt she knows), than just roll our eyes not treat her the same as other BON’ers. She’s here to talk about the season, and how great it is to be a UT fan, so let’s treat her as an equal. (Lord knows some around here have been subjected to grammatical inquisitions.)
But you bring up another good point, is this PB’s mystery date?

Warranted
This post included an all caps title including a 22 letter spelling of “long”, followed by a body of terrible grammar and limited substance that definitely did not necessitate an entirely new fanpost. When I discovered BON, I was attracted to the intelligent discourse and witty humor of the posters. One thing I was trying to escape from other fansites was tripe like this.
Same here, on all counts
Honestly, if she were a guy, I’d have been piling on and giving you props for making me laugh out loud. I guess I just fall into 98horn’s camp on this one.

If she were a boy
Her first post would have been pounded.
As a girl (well supposed girl anyway, this is the internet after all) it took her second post for someone to come out and say it.
BON is a great place for great discussion and news, and many prefer to have such presented in more a “turn in your papers now class” fashion than a “pass this note to Suzie” format.
Its always great to see new people come in and contribute, but look around, and get a feel for your audience, and your environment.

You're Right
If she were a he, this discourse would have been ripped right away. Fortunately, BONers know that it’s ungentlemanly to pick on girls. That being said, Meekrob has a good point.
Coltmccoyluver, you are playing with the big boys when you post on this site. Everyone here shares your enthusiasm, but we expect certain things from each other, and by extension, you. You’ll find that everyone here will be more receptive to you if you tone down the LLLLLLLOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGG words, and tone up the analysis(i.e. why you think Jeremy Hills is great player). You’ll also find that people will often judge your intelligence by your ability to spell and use proper grammar. I’m not saying that this is a good thing, but it’s a fact of life, and is certainly true in this community. So, take a deep breath, think about what you want to say, and please keep posting.
