Gustav Watch
Keep an eye on Gustav; looks like he's going to become a bad mutha' (shut yo' mouth!) and he's headed your general direction.
This is a link to the official National Hurricane Center five-day forecast track and as we all know, these things are pretty unpredictable. Just because one update says it's not coming for you doesn't mean the next one won't.
This link will work for all future updates, which come every three hours.

the only thing I'm worried about with Gustav
Is if it continues it’s projected track i will shut down oil production in the gulf (which is where 25% of US oil production comes from). The summer of 05 was when we saw our first massive jump in the price of gas, and it was mostly because ’Canes Katrina and Rita moved through the northwest gulf where most offshore rigs are.
I’m enjoying our current dip in gas prices very much (down 50 cents in the last 2 months here in north austin), but Gustav may put the kibbosh on that.

I Hate Florida
Although it looks like FLA will be spared, I still hope and pray that Gustav will deep throat America’s wang and then swallow its load of old people while they’re doing old people crap like spending their social security checks on yet another ridiculous polyester action suit, driving through stop signs, talking about how great things were when a man was a man and a woman knew her place, yelling at the young people, playing bridge or bocce ball or doing those stupid little elasticity exercises. Bah! Humbug!!

I laughed a lot
even though hurricanes are no laughing matter. Particularly funny: BONomo’s Four Principles.

Well, aside from being extremely flammable
…they also lower sperm counts. Witness this chump!

For the record
The people who do that are not actually from Florida. Native Floridians are just like everyone else. It’s not our fault the feds won’t let us put a filter on the northern border.

We've been saying that about Oklahoma for years...
Unfortunately when the Fed started building walls on one of our borders, they picked the wrong one.

Appreciate the link Year2, and Bombilla's ode to Florida.
According to Ray Nagin’s press release, we’ll be evacuating NOLA if Gustav hits cat 3 or just seems like it will rain a lot.
Really quite the marvel of modern disaster management we’ve got at city hall.

Whoa...
I just checked the track courtesy of Year2’s link, and saw that NOLA is now on the east side of the track = not too cool.
I’m hoping that it keeps moving further west. I’d gladly sacrifice Houston for New Orleans, anyday. (My sister lives in Houston.) HA!!

Appreciate the sentiment
But I’m about to join the rest of NOLA in evacuating. Anybody got a good suggestion of a sports bar in D/FW?
