Gilbert gets off on the right foot
Record-breaking quarterback Garrett Gilbert passed for 312 yards and three touchdowns — all to senior Cade McCrary — to earn most valuable player honors. Despite a slow start, Gilbert was spectacular at times. He had a string of 12 consecutive completions stretching from the second quarter into the fourth. He completed 17 of 23 overall, 9 of 10 in the second half. Gilbert was perfect in the third quarter, completing all six of his passes on the team's only possession in the period. He capped the drive with his 6-yard pass to McCrary on the right side of the end zone, giving the Cavaliers a comfortable 27-13 lead. Gilbert, held to 12 yards passing in the first quarter, opened the second quarter with a 50-yard rainbow that was caught by McCrary, who beat two defenders for the touchdown. The Gilbert-McCrary connection hooked up later in the second quarter. Another tight spiral was good for 55 yards and a touchdown, giving Lake Travis a 20-10 edge at halftimeAnybody still worried about the off-season surgery? Anyone still wishing we'd taken Shephard instead? Gilbert

Don't blame him...
… it’s the Mack Brown Curse. If he’d signed with us he would have had 300 yards total offense, minimum.
