So far, it's been the Colt McCoy show
I wanted to see what Chiles could do at WR/RB but didn’t see much. Hopefully he can give us some excitement in the 2nd half.

Thoughts...
Colt – Could not have played better. Literally perfect.
Irby – Exciting. Gives me a lot more confidence in our chances on 3rd down.
McGee – Solid, tough runner. Still want to see him against better athletes though.
Receivers – No one stood out, good or bad.
Defense – Ate up the run, lots of loose coverage, missed tackles. With FAU’s scheme, we’re not gonna get many sacks. I’m thinking we’ll see more man coverage, since they are getting rid of the ball so fast.
Crush'em
It’d be nice if we could crush’em by midway in Q4 and experiment with personnel and plays afterwards.
GD seems to be forgetting the running game.
Hook'em
I think they have been experimenting since the game began.
Agree about the running game, but I think that was as much about intimidation as game plan.
Zone
Does it look like they are trying get the d experience in zone coverage???
We've mixed it up
The interception in the end zone was a ginormous zone drop that led to the tipped ball.
--PB--
stadium??
What does the stadium look like with 98,000?
Guys
This ain’t no party… this ain’t no disco… this ain’t no Arkie State Game. I love the O, the D is now in “maturing” mode. These boys in the secondary are gonna get schooled, glad it’s happening against FAU and not OU.

New to post
Sorry little off subject but just joined the bon crew and can’t wait for an exciting year
let's see/hear some adjustments
Disciplina Praesidium Civitatis.
Sounds like a nice mix of plays.
You know, if GD is indeed freed, he’s gotta adjust, also.
I can’t believe I’m saying that.
When you throw for 226 in the first half
Why are you trying to run it?
tight ends..
how are the tight ends running down the middle wide open
thanks
I’ve got the game on but it’s muted so I can listen to the horns and a dome for those two teams just didn’t make any sense.
Hate to say it
Mizzou is dominating. Pinkel’s made some stupid decisions thus far. Chase has been lights out. 7-6 Mizzou at the end of the 1st.

been thinking the same thing
Every time I see those weird purple circus uniforms….what badass footballer would want to submit himself to that? And, come on, it’s Clemson. These voters need to get a hold of themselves.
Hey Howard
How would a tough team be doing against you, if the “soft” UT offense has scored 42 so far?

no worries
The Chiles-led offense has languished, but the Horns have a comfortable lead. And they’re moving the ball again.
Punt returners
Cosby was back on that one. If the second team offense gets time, where’s the harm in a younger guy fielding a couple?

arkansas
has closed to 24-21, midway 4Q, and has the ball back
I don't like rooting for them
but geez piggies, don’t freaking ruin our SOS by losing to a 1-AA team.
Chiles is Colt's bitch

Aggies are losing, Arkansas is losing,
All we need is Colt to get the hell outta the game and we’ll be perfect.
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
Happy for McCoy
A lot of us—myself included—have rode him hard when he’s struggled. Hey, that’s life as the Texas QB.
But it’s really great to see him come out and shine like this tonight. Very, very impressive.
--PB--
Agreed
I think we also need to stop worrying about him getting hurt and realize that scrambling is part of his game.
While I'm inclined to agree with you...
…many of our problems last year were a result of his injuries (and other issues of course) and that’s hard to forget. It makes me worried

Stats
Two missed field goals for A&M – 0/2 on night
Arky St 415 yards vs. 303 for A&M
1 turnover for asu vs. 4 for A&m

nor does anyone
But 5 frosh safeties due to have played, plus 2 sophs and a freshman CB.
Look up VY’s first game, first 5 games, etc. . . . Good beginning. Good foundation.
much better opener this year
get your naps next saturday—it’s gonna be a late night.
Good game all around
Much to be happy with tonight. I always appreciate this site and getting to watch (or listen) to the game with fellow horns. Thanks to PB and other contributors as always. Peace from Atlanta.
freshman count
tucker, snow, buckner, hills, E. acho, gideon, aaron williams? . . . anybody know about brewster, one of the DTs, grant?
52 - 10
A final score reminiscent of 2005. Y’all take it easy. Hook ’em!
anybody know
does mack do a postgame news conference, and is it avail. on line somewhere?
He does. Austin 98.1 will carry it; don't know about WOAI
but worth a try.
state of the night
Tech 18 penalties for 169 yards . . .
Where's our playmaker?
Not one Longhorn had more than one TD! What’s wrong with our offense? Fire Greg.
(Tongue firmly in cheek.)

Whew!
That was nice… we hung 50+ on ’em. And the Ags put the icing on my opening day cake. This is gonna be a good year for Texas football.

Mack
mentioned giving up too many explosives on 3rd down in the post game.
Colt for Heisman
Or should that be Heisman for Colt?
24 of 29 for 221 yards and 3 TDs, according to Yahoo, plus 12 rushes for 102 yards and another TD.
Good Colt is back! Amazing what a little protection from your O-line can do for your stats. Hook’em
by Longhorn in Canada on Aug 30, 2008 9:56 PM CDT reply actions
just came back from the game
my thoughts:
Colt did great, he scrambled well, but took some hits
Offense overall is very good
Kirkendoll and Johnson impressed
Defense needs work…….FAU racked up alot of pass yards against us
Someone asked about the stadium and how it looks….It wasnt sold out (thsi game)
but it looked great. Was loud, but not that looud. New student section is not bad, not a bad view
Also, another thing that concerned me is why RYAN BAILEY didnt get to kick til the end? I thought he was a first teamer???
bailey
groin injury, per the statesman. But they also said he was kicking 55-yarders in pre-game.
No Sacks?
where was the pass rush? It better show up before the horns get into the meat of the schedule. With out a pass rush this secondary is gonna get reamed by Missouri, Tech and OU to the tune 400+ passing yards. Staking those three teams six scores because of a poor secondary is a hard row to hoe.
