Texas vs Arkansas Postponed and Rescheduled Due To Hurricane Ike
University of Texas officials have announced that Saturday's game against the Arkansas Razorbacks in Austin has been cancelled and rescheduled for September 27th.

Arkansas
Absolutely the right thing to do, no other choice really. I sure was looking forward to that bye week before starting conference play, however. Oh well, safe wishes to those in the path of Ike.

Agree
They had no choice, really. Would have been reckless to allow people on the highways just to chase a football game. This is better, given how nasty Ike looks.

The real question
Is PB still coming down to join the end of days party or will you too be rescheduling for the weekend of the 27th (Bonus: ACL Fest)?

I have a job interview Friday
That was my reason I’m coming down for this particular weekend. Job interview hasn’t been canceled, so I’m still coming, rain or shine.

You should be fine
After all, lawyers are hurricane proof, so you’re what, 33% resistant? Good luck, sir.
After the fact, at the very least, everyone will be out celebrating the near miss, or it’ll be a hedonistic fuck fest to re-populate Central Texas. Either way: win-win.

Semi-Unrelated question
When you devote so much of your time and effort to something like you do on BON, do you include any reference to this site in either your resume or interview?
I always find it curious how people handle online endeavors, as many times the hiring folk are not adept enough to realize that it is an accomplishment to admin a successful site.

Aww…poor Piggies might have trouble with accommodations. Fuck them. The fewer in our town the better. And now they get ’Bama, us, and Florida in consecutive weeks.

crap
This news has completely ruined this weekend and ACL weekend. Well, at least I’ll be able to watch all of the USC / Ohio massacre.

Ike is going to destroy a lot of houses
And you’re whining about your weekend. Perspective might be called for.

damn
I was planning on getting rained in the house on saturday, The only highlight was all football all day. But alas now there will be no topping on the cake as Texas whoops Arkansas

Now they made it go away.
It probably hit Biloxi.
I doubt if Arkansas liked this either, because now they must play Alabama, and after the Texas game Arkansas gets Florida at home and goes to Auburn. That doesn’t sound like fun to me.
Of course, we play Rice and can reveal as much as necessary. If indeed they’re holding their cards close to their chest, instead of just trying to hold on to them.
imho we really needed four games in a row with a break. The dynamic of this season just changed somewhat.

Kinda sucks
that the game is postponed, was looking forward to it too much. I figured the wind & rain from Ike might help out or DBs.
Probably for the best though, anything can happen in a mudfest and I’m near Houston so with my luck if they kept the game on my power would be out all day and the radio station would be knocked out as well.

Sucks...
I’m kind of surprised they’re postponing it. Hanna, admittedly a smaller storm than Ike, came straight up the Atlantic coast, and most of the games along the coast still happened. You’d think that there wouldn’t be much left of Ike if “he” were to make it as far as Austin.

It’s not so much about Austin as it is the fact there will be lots of evacuees on the highways and the last thing they need is a football crowd. It is, after all, passing between Austin and Arkansas.

True
Alot of the schools in the San Antonio area have already announced closures for Friday just to make sure they can handle evacuees. I’d imagine the same thing is happening in Austin.
Dolly hit much farther down the coast and spawned some really bad tornadoes on the south side of San Antonio. With this one looking like it will be farther north, it’s not out of the question the same thing could happen in Austin.

If Ike is a Cat 3 or 4 and hits Freeport as predicted then Austin will have near 75 mph winds. That is what happened in ’61 when Carla hit at about the same place and was a Cat 4.

CNN was saying yesterday that 80-90 mph winds were possible in Austin
But, that was before the trajectory moved today. Now, it looks to be headed closer to Houston.

So are they going to remove the Texas Arkansas game or what?

Oh Well
it happens….
its better that it is re scheduled than to hope to avoid it and have Vondrell McGee or Jordan shipely some hoe injured by Ike…
we’ll win on saturday or on the 27th no diff.

Completely overboad IMO.
This is really overboard. I mean come on Austin is 250 miles inland and the worst that could happen is some heavy rain. The news media makes those hurricanes on the screens look bigger than they really are. The bigger it looks the more people will watch it.

you realize that those "hurricanes on the screens" are radar, right?
please explain to me how you manipulate radar to get viewers.
