If you're following the game from New York
MSG (channel 48) is now showing the Rice game. A WNBA game just finished. Weird scheduling, but no complaints here.
downfield threat?
Does Texas have one? If so, why haven’t we seen it?
Soph.

Scaife
Didn’t Bo have 32 knee surgeries (give or take) and he’s still playing. Blaine could be alright….looked terrible tho.
that young man is in serious need of some pain killers
you can see it in his face….wow that was ugly
I'm a pessimist
because I haven’t seen anything other than the flea flicker to give me hope for the big play passing game.
Lol

Gotta give it to Texas, we have the best school commercials...
Sure beats the OU one with the football player holding the ballerina.

What if we move Og to TE?

That's a pretty damn smart idea.
And there is a precedent, although somewhat mixed. Terry Orr was a fullback for Texas; wound up being a tight end and, at times a H-back before they were cool, for the Redskins.
Maybe
He’s got good hands and is a good blocker. May take a game (Arkansas) to pick up the route running. Frees up the RB rotation too. I think the only negative is his height.

QB Rating
Is it possible to bust a QB rating of 200?
just signed into the chat
may god bless b. irby. i believe that was the last play of his career and my heart felt apologies to him and his family. that just put a big lump in my stomach. hook em
Not the last play of his career.
I think it was Willis McGahee who had the same injury (maybe worse) over at Miami and he’s done fine. Plus he came back and he’s a RB!

I agree, I want to see Sherrod get more time in these games...
How soon Mack forgets what happened in 2006. We need a viable #2 with decent experience. Now’s the time to get it.
Chykie's having a game.
I agree we should let them play and make mistakes. Ideal time to do it. Invest..
Has Rice gone for it on every 4th down?

We shouldn't run Colt so much.
If he goes down, we are fu@$#ed. Chiles —> ugh

Rice has a lot of heart. They earned that TD

Unfortunately, I agree completely. Makes no sense. We ain't gonna lose this game.
And he damn sure doesn’t need the practice.
If anything
CJ and Fozzy have established themselves as the top two RB options.
Satisfied?

Why play Colt here?
If he gets hurt – playing Rice for God’s sake – then the season will basically be trashed
OK let's get Chiles some reps
And let him throw a few passes – we will need him in an important game this year
Indeed.
Hopefully that last for awhile.
by HornPossessed on Sep 20, 2008 8:49 PM CDT up reply actions
We've had a lot of great ones against Rice
Here is hoping we can say the same thing after OU and Mizzou
Justin Tucker
is really killing it. It’s been some time since we had someone who could constantly get us touchbacks.

15-yd facemask
while at the quarter break—thoughts on the elimination of the incidental face mask call?
I like it
It’s tough as a tackler to not just grab whatever is out there to stop him. Incidental facemask…no harm no foul. It’s only the more egregious twisting of the neck that they’re trying to prevent.
Talk about facemask…
The pride and winning tradition of The University of Texas will not be entrusted to the weak or the timid.

however
in the past, you grasp it, you let it go…five yards. now, you grasp it, you may as well yank it as there’s no incentive for releasing it. perhaps more dangerous?
The sad part about this game is that
no matter how much we win this game by, we still lost our amazing TE for, most likely, the entirety of this season.
What the frick is this guy talking about?

It does look like an owl (Frost Bank Tower at an angle)
Picture Here (wouldn’t let me embed for some reason).
It's a maliciously snide remark
about the economic prestige of being Rice grads. Subtle and not so subtle at the same time.
It is supposed to look like an Owl
Some guy from Kansas state designed it.

This season rest in Colt and Colt alone.

Remember when FSU was a quarterback factory? Now, they can’t find one anywhere….it’s been that way for several years now

Yea but you need to give Chiles some confidence in the passing game.
And to keep the defense honest when he is in.

611. Vs. SMU, 1969.
All four backs had 100 yards rushing, too. I listened to that game. SMU had it coming.
Rule change?
Any thoughts on a rule change to not allow tackling below the knee from the front or side? I’d apply it to the NFL too. Some serious knee injuries that can wipe out careers.

Easily. You have to think he saw Irby miss that catch and still came at him.
by HornPossessed on Sep 20, 2008 9:22 PM CDT up reply actions
I don't think he meant to hurt him.
Maybe just wanted to get a tackle in without getting a flag.

last question
too much to drink or does emily jones look good in that vest?
Colt Season Stats: 63/81, 833 yards, 11 TD, 1 INT, 78% Completion %
Rushing, 25 Carries for 194 yards, 2 TD’s, 7.8 yards per carry.
He’s over the sophomore slump.
bring on the swine
good night…great week to everybody!
He's a dark horse in the Hesiman, everything would have to break just right.
I think they did do a little stat chasing tonight.
That's a good way to put it. This definitely kept him in the chase
and a prelude to 2009 at the very least.
Screw the "Q"
Find something to do with Chiles other than mop up quarterback and ill-formed Q package meanderings. Colt is the QB – end of story. I really feel bad that the defense got scored on after Chiles’ fumble. Sure, Chiles should have been used more last year so he could be ready this year – but, guess what, he wasn’t and he isn’t. Leave Colt in the game as The Quarterback. Find something else to do with Chiles.
May VY be with you.
Agree, we don't need it. We need a decent backup though that can come in should Colt go down.
And Chiles doesn’t look like he fits the bill.
