Blaine Irby
I was at the game and unfortunately, or fortunately, from what i heard, they didnt show any replays of his injury. I was literally sick to my stomach when he was carted off the field, he was a very promising player at tight end and i hope he is ok. However, from someone who was watching the game from television, how does his injury look? Is it season ending, or is there any chance he can come back? If it is season ending what is our current situation at tight end behind him? Here's hoping to a speedy recovery for blaine.

terrible...
It looked horrible on the HD replay. His knee was bent the wrong direction. I would guess he tore pretty much everything you can tear in your knee, and he’ll be out for at least the season.
Doesn't sound good
I was at work listening to it on the radio, and they said it really looked terrible. So bad that the radio guys said that they did not want to see it again on the replay because it gave them the chills.
My wife is an ER Nurse and I made her watch it. Her diagnosis was a break of the upper tibia causing a blown knee. I couldn’t watch it after seeing it originally on the Godzillatron.
Side note: Whoever played the commercial in the stadium while Blaine was on the turf in obvious pain should A) Lose their job temporarily or permanently and B) put a bucket of sand in their sex organs and directly go F themselves. That was classless and I can’t imagine any employee of the university would do such a idiotic thing.
Perhaps the most recognizable mascot in sports, and certainly the toughest looking, Bevo is a fixture

I was pissed that not even a serious injury could stop a damn advertisement…I guess they saw it as the perfect opportunity to tell everyone about the new volkswagon

I agree...
You brought up a great point.
I emailed the assistant to Mack Brown and asked that it forwarded on to whom it may concern. I would suggest everyone do the same.
It is just a matter of respect for the player and their family, friends, etc. that all commercials cease until he is up or taken off the field. This includes UT and opposing teams.

I was on the east side of the stadium. When he got and flipped over, one of his legs came over like it normally would, and the other one came over like a dead fish. At first I thought it was a ligament tear, but then I realized that nothing could make a leg flop around like that like a broken bone could. That’s my diagnosis.
Done
Fox SW wouldn’t show the replay “out of respect to Blaine and his family,” which means “not to scare small children.” I saw the first replay, and I am not exaggerating, similar to this:

McGahee
That’s exactly what I thought as soon as I saw it. I would gather he’s without a doubt done for the year. I got sick when I saw it. TV only showed in once out of respect to Irby and his family, but once was enough. I feel real bad for him.
'Til Gabriel blows his horn...
The good news is McGahee recovered fine for his NFL career.
Albeit he was never quite the same on cutbacks, though Irby doesn’t have to worry about that as a TE.

It was officially very ugly
And there’s probably a .00001 chance that he returns this season.

'Til Gabriel blows his horn...
I don't know why
but I’ve watched Irby’s and McGahee’s injuries over and over. Why must I do this to myself?!

You know, the play-by-play guys said that the CB’s supposed to chop down the big guys like that, but was that not a terrible tackle? I was a very small, fast DB in high school, only 5’10" 133lbs. as an honorable mention all-state FS, and I never one dove directly for the effing knee on a receiver. I quite often dove at the quads or, as I found most effective for taking down guys bigger than I was, I would break people in half by putting my shoulder right between the hips. I see no reason to jeopardize a guy’s career by making an unsound tackle right on the kneecap.
I like Rice, but that tackle was almost Kellen Heard-stupid.

let's pray for Blaine
that is what happens in non conference meaningless games. too bad he’s out for the
season, but he appears to be a young man who can handle it.
it was sickening to see (thanks FOX, youtube, ESPN)
