Ahem...
Brief note: I respect USC. As much as I have scorned the Pac-10 the past few years, USC has been legitimately a great program that recruits well and develops their players well. Perhaps I have also ripped all their stupid bandwagon fans, but I don't hate USC or anything.
However, while I would normally not write a post focusing on another team without mentioning my Horns, I think this merits some comments... mostly towards ESPN and the rest of the media...
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! What was that? Oh yes... this was the "best" USC team Pete Carroll has EVER had. Uh huh. Of course, WE'VE NEVER HEARD THAT ONE BEFORE, HUH ESPN? 2#$@ idiots. USC has a great team, but if it's possible, they were being OVERRATED by the fawning media and the morons on ESPN.
Are all these idiot analysts going to come out and admit that they were wrong and stupid? Nope... just like when USC lost against Texas, they will just backtrack and point out all the flaws USC had and act like they knew all along that the Trojans were vulnerable. They'll try mightily to save face as all their glowing projections blow up in their faces.
Seriously, greatest team Carroll has ever had? Let me make this clear: 2004 AND 2005 USC WOULD NOT LOSE TO OREGON STATE LIKE THIS. Please shut your dang mouths.
Sorry, true USC fans; I'm not trying to offend you and I know this is tough to deal with. The people I really wish to offend and ridicule are all the know-it-all CFB analysts and all the idiot bandwagonners a team like USC always attracts.
Ahem. Anyway...
I hope Rey Maualuga is okay, because I think he's a great player, and I expect USC will slowly work their way back into the BCS and/or national title picture. Although an undefeated team, or even a one loss team, from the Big 12 and SEC will most likely stay ahead of the Trojans, it will also be a lot harder for a team to remain so unscathed. The season is far from over for USC, and maybe this will be a good wake up call. They shot themselves in the foot plenty of times, and it just goes to show that you can lose to anyone on any night if you don't bring your best stuff.

i can respect USC for everything they've put together
that program is one of the best if not the best program on the west coast. i sat through the whole game and thought about how espn is really to blame here. if i didnt here about them on every episode of college football live and everyone stamping them as the greatest team Carroll has ever had with the best defense on the planet then maybe i wouldnt hate them so much. same for OSU, the buckeyes were humiliated by this as well as the entire big 10. any way the point is that i blame the media for all the over-hype of USC and their quick judgement to label “the best ever” on everything about that team. last night we also found out what is USC’s kryptonite. any football player from texas and when i mean any i mean it doesnt matter if they are VY (6’5’ 240lbs) or a 5’6 185lb j. rodgers. USC cant handle players from TEXAS.
USC:OregonSt::Texas:KState
I really hate seeing Texas come up short against lesser opponents, but it happens, and it has derailed a lot of potential championship runs. Had the ‘Horns not played small against K-State and then Aggie two years ago, they would’ve probably been in a BCS game, and possibly even in the discussion w/ Florida, Ohio State, and Michigan for the title game.

For the record...
…and I think this is largely unassailable, the 2004 team was the greatest USC team under Carroll. The 2005 offense was perhaps a little better, but that 2004 defense was ridiculous whereas the 2005 defense was decent, but decimated by injuries.
What I loved about it
was that a kid from Texas made those California pretty boys look weak.
Texas football is THE BEST

has long predicted that USC would struggle when Sanchez became the QB . . . he was at QB when the Trojans lost to Stanford last year. . . . It’s beyond silly to brand teams as greatest anything before 8-9 games have been played. Pac-10 coaches hung the label on Trojans last year, media doing it now.
Mainstream media ABSOLUTELY LOVE big-market teams. The NY pro teams are fawned over incessantly. USC, and Notre Dame (for diffferent reasons), get the treatment on the college level.
I predict USC will run the table and be in the top two; the SEC will cannibalize its own and the Big 12 may do the same, though if Mizzou and OU can get past Texas, they could square off with 12-0 records in December.
Funny thing is......
USC didn’t play poorly. The Beavers just out hustled and out played them. The OSU O-line absolutely OWNED the much vaunted USC D-line. It was an impressive thing to watch.
