In Colt We Trust
I have only posted on here a couple of times, but whether it is on this website, on Houston-area sports radio stations, or email battles with Richard Justice of the Houston Chronicle, I fully believe that when Colt finishes his career at UT, he will be only second to VY in terms of UT QB greatness and top five of UT football players. While the tagline "barring injury" is obvious, Colt is a great Texas quarterback and epitmizes all of the qualities of a great UT player. Clearly, Applewhite owns the underdog title most recently, the fact that Colt will own every UT passing record by the end of this year is incredible considering the low expectations for him coming in. Moreover, I would go so far as to say that if he wins a National Title or a Heisman before leaving, he would be the greatest ever. VY didn't become "VY" until part way thru his sophomore year. His freshman year was spent gaining the confidence of the coaching staff AND fans (remember getting pulled before half against Texas Tech?). Colt stepped onto the field and stepped up his game from his freshman year forward. Vince, Earl and Ricky were came to UT with high expectations. Colt would probably have been regulated to 3rd string had Vince stayed for his senior year as expectations would have been for Jevon Snead to inherit the reigns once Vince graduated. While VY is not quite like Troy Aikman (Cowboys had the top talent at every position during their Super Bowl run), he did benefit from quality experienced players during his two years of greatness. Colt inherited some of those his freshman year, had very few his sophomore year, and is starting with maturing talent this year. Some may think I am crazy, but as the talent on this team matures this year going into next, Colt may be in the thick of things for a Heisman in '09!

hmm
While I agree that Colt is “starting with maturing talent this year,” I don’t know if I can see him being a Heisman candidate.. He’s good, sometimes phenomenal, but inconsistently great… While I understand all athletes and teams are frustrating to watch at times, being such a die hard fan, he’s still frustrating to watch, no matter how much I like the team or him.
Hopefully this year will be more consistently great than last year or freshman year (while your freshman year is understandable)…
So C’mon colt…ya got it..

colt = heisman
I agree that Colt could win the heisman. Hell he was getting that discussion his freshman year. If he has a phenomanal (sp) year passing and rushing he might win it this year. He is clearly the leader of this team and if his stats are good and the team wins out the year you never know. I do lean a little more towards 09 though.

If things go well this year, he's got a chance in '09.
It’s all in his hands.

im a firm believer
that he can achieve the Heisman this year, or be in the final voting at least. All it would take is Texas going to the Big 12 championship game and him continuing the performance he had against FAU…
