Ike on a Texas path...
With gameday only 5 days out, Ike sits over the middle of Cuba plotting his next move. Well the National Hurricane Center has taken the liberty to plot out his path for him and points the Cat 3 right toward Houston and 351 miles from DKR at 1am Saturday morning. As we all know, these things can shift on a dime (like Fozzy did in El Paso), so I'm still going to be optimistic for the time being. Might be a good idea to start checking http://www.stormpulse.com/ come Wednesday, because they (guys at the hurricane center) are pretty spot on for the 3 day outlook.

the latest report this morning
has Ike aimed at New Orleans, rather than Houston, so I doubt it will affect the game much. How long before people realize the swamps of Louisiana are the “Hurricane Coast” and pack up the city inland to Baton Rouge?

Burnt in NY
A) Ike is not hitting New Orleans
B) Have you been to Baton Rouge? I’ll take my chances with the ’canes…

I got it from weather.com
http://www.weather.com/. I looked at the NWC site and I would say there is some disagreement about the track of the eye and the wind probabilities. I’m guessing it’s still too soon to know for sure.
But it is a good heads up for those of us buried in work and football.

Agreed....
Yeah, there is no telling yet. Too many sources pushing it all over, usually I don’t rely on a track until about three days out.

Hurricane info
If you want an interpretation of the forecast models from a reasonable-minded dude, check in on
He interprets all the known data for the layperson. He’s Houston Chron-based, but has developed quite a following. There is only one source for weather data (NOAA), everything else out there is just an explanation. Eric just stated that if it remains pointed at Galveston for a Saturday landfall, we could begin evacuations as early as Wednesday.
Dr. Jeff Masters is also very good.
Take a Hike, Ike, we’ve got football to watch!

Latest models
have Ike heading towards Corpus. Could head even further south and miss Houston.

National Hurricane Center
Positioned 56 miles south of Corpus at 1 am Saturday morning putting it about 227 miles south of Austin all day Saturday. Hope those bands hold tight to the eye, but as soon as it hits land, it doesn’t become as organized and starts to scatter out.
Then again….path could change throughout today.
