Hotels for TX/OU
I may be getting on the hotel train a little late, but I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations for hotels for the RRS.
I'm a student, so obviously I'm not looking for the Ritz. Last year we stayed at a friend's house in Plano but it was a painful commute to the game. Are there any places with a decent location for easy access to both the Friday night activities as well as the game?
Thanks

My only experience...
is at the Adam’s Mark.
Pros: great location (downtown, about 5 blocks to the Commerce St action, and the State Fair shuttle bus stops literally right outside the hotel), good rooms. Good if you’re willing to put a minimum of 4-6 people in each room. Easy location to get to/leave from.
Downside: It was about 75% Sooner both years I was there. I went with large groups of (loud) Horns, though, so it wasn’t too bad. Food is a problem, too, because it’s in a part of downtown that doesn’t have much. It’ll be a short cab ride or a long walk. Expensive garage parking ($25/day if I remember correctly).
Also, since it’s the biggest damn hotel in the city, if you don’t get there before 5 pm friday it’ll take a looong time to check in.

Yep
As a Sooner, the Adams Mark is by far the largest contingent of OU fans for the weekend. If you like to talk trash, stay there. If you hate being heckled non-stop stay somewhere else.

my recommendation
If you’re planning on getting there early for the fair and staying after the game for more fair, I suggest staying off-site (i.e., away from downtown). There’ll be better rates, and the drive in/back isn’t too bad. If you’re only going for the game, though, staying closer is better.
And the Adam’s Mark is a complete POS hotel (although there may be improvements now that it’s owned by Sheraton), which may help explain why our friends up north choose to migrate to there.
